Request MX23: Dooble Web Browser (WebKit/QtWebEngine frontend)

#1 Post by app4soft »

Package name: dooble
Version(s): 2024.08.19 (release) / 'master' (git)
Source repo: https://github.com/textbrowser/dooble/r ... 2024.08.19 (DEBs for Ubuntu)
MX-23 Repository: testrepo
Packaging status: https://pkgs.org/search/?q=dooble (not in Debian)

Dooble — is a minimal, scientific, and stable Web browser, built as a light Qt-frontend to WebKit engine.
It has simple built-in Ads-domains blocker and could import distributed blocking lists (like uBlock Origin). Note: @Stevo, I propose this as an alternative to Falkon update request, due to its actual heavy dependency on KDE (as discussed here: viewtopic.php?t=74710).

Dooble 2024.08.19 (LTS) has been released. It provides few DEB variants for Ubuntu: Updated request info in first comment.

NOTE: Provided DEBs built on latest Ubuntu LTS, thus requires newer libstdc++, than offered by MX-23.3

Code: Select all

./Dooble: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.32' not found (required by ./Dooble)
Workaround: use special libstdc++ package. Steps:
  1. Download "Dooble-2024.08.19_native_amd64.deb" and install it.
  2. Follow instruction described here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/769 ... gcc-13-2-0
  3. Or just download "libstdc++6_13.1.0-8ubuntu1~22.04_amd64.deb" from this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-toolchain ... hive-extra
  4. Install (or just unpack files from) DEB into system.
  5. Done. Now it works
