When loggin in KDE desktop only the swith user action is enabled...i had installed the xfce version first and then installed kde and removed xfce...i do not know if that is related to that issue.

Probably sddm-modified-init was not installed together with KDE DE:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install sddm-modified-init -y
However you also need to put it in autostart...

Or boot systemd... this is an incompatibility between sddm and sysvinit.

no you don't. its an init script, runs before user log in.

but installing the package is the answer

the user must accept the new file over the existing /etc/init.d/sddm file. I'm not sure the -y will do that automatically. It might, I just don't remember.

Well i did...and could not login got a command line prompt but the characters were not rihght...
anyway i logged in with systemd , removed the package sddm-modified-init , but still i cant log in (on syvinit i believe) only with systemd!!!
On systemd loggin all actions are enabled!!!

Ah, of course. I feel stupid, that would already be nonsense: You first login and then a command or script starts something to make the login manager work / work correctly

 :spinning: :hitmyhead:  :clown:

Oh, just a moment:

If I'm not wrong on KDE release just the sddm-modified-init is installed and sddm is not . So, it needs to be alone. (When you installed KDE DE (normally) sddm was installed and now they are together).

Shortly: remove sddm and install sddm-modified-init

In case of a problem you can also boot with any (MX / antiX) live media and use "Chroot Rescue Scan" from menu.

All the options are available for me with an installed MX-23.3 KDE booted to sys-v.

These are the default files that are installed.
