mx23 respin for Raspberry Pi 5, systray brightness.

I've been running mx23.1 respin for arm on a Raspberry Pi5 for quite a few months, I installed PyCharm, GDLauncher for Minecraft and loads of other stuff, it's amazing.
But since I installed mx 23.1 on the Pi the brightness systray control for the screen does nothing, the menu comes up but the adjustments do nothing and I recently tried downloading mx23.3 hoping the issue was fixed but it's not.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this as I would love to be able to start rhythmbox and the radio at night and then dim the screen right down, any help would be very welcome thanks.

I would have thought the software brightness part would work. But the hardware backlight probably wouldn’t unless the display had an accessible interface. Most external devices do not.

@dolphin_oracle The display is HDMI 24" XG24IPS gaming monitor.

I’m not near a pc but it’s likely there is no accessible external interface for the hardware backlight. Or at least not one the brightness tool can use.

@dolphin_oracle Forgive me, but I'm not sure what you are talking about exactly, for example if I create an image jpg whatever, and it's totally black, and I display it full screen, the screen effectively goes dark, but I can see that the backlight is still working if I'm sitting in the dark.
So I'm not entirely sure what you mean, do you know if the brightness systray works via controlling the backlight?
So I just tried using the brightness systray from MX tweaks on another computer that I'm running MX23 on and it works fine, when I turn the brightness down to 0, I can tell that the backlight is still working but whether it's at full brightness I can't say.

There are two functions. The backlight control and a software control that affects how the x server displays brightness. The software one I would think would work. The backlight one probably not.
