MX23 auto start and auto update

I am setting up an old laptop to run pihole and maybe other services.

I’d like to set it up so it can auto shutdown, auto start (it should not be a problem setting a crontab) but what about having the system auto updating?

I have found it’s possible to do do it with Ubuntu installing some additional packages, can MX do it too?

its already set up. just enable the feature in mx-updater preferences.
