Forum 'Dark Theme'.

#1 Post by TURK »

Hi all,

Will there ever be a forum 'Dark Theme' option for users of the forum?
Dark themes always seem to be very popular on all other platforms, much easier on the eyes.

All my PC's are set to Dark Themes ( as is MX Linux ) and most of my websites ( and other forums ).
Then I visit here ................. and WOW!!!, I have to take a step back!

Is there a reason why this hasn't been an option in the past? Maybe because the board doesn't have that option?

I use the Dark Reader extension for all the web sites. Set the contrast to 50+ for jet black backgrounds. (not all web sites work...looking at FF add-ons page)
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Seconded for Dark Reader. It's available on multiple browsers, has a number of per-site configuration options that work with most sites, and has a relatively decent privacy policy.

Hello @TURK
Firefox and some others SeaMonkey, same family, I can use the dark theme if it is in there also too an addon, Dark Background and Light Text with foreground colour FFDEAD, background colour 3D3D3D the other colours for links viewed and active etc leave as they are should provide an easy on the eye web surf, works on 499 out of 500 sites, there is always that one site that doesn't if so I go somewhere else.

One other extension you can look into is Midnight Lizard.

Privacy is important to me, that and fingerprinting was why I wasn't using them, so I was sometimes using the flags, e.g. "brave://flags/" dark mode, but both apps seems to be fairly private.

Thanks both.

Dark Reader it is guys  I'm using it right now ................ WOW, no need to customise colours or anything. Fantastic right out the box.
As I'm using the Brave browser I thought there might of been some sort of issue, checked-out the Brave Browser Extension library, and there it was.
One click to install ............. and that's it.

Many thanks.
