Unable to install KYOCERA FS1060DN network printer
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to install a KYOCERA FS1060DN network printer on my MX Linux system. with ppd file , but I'm running into an error when I try to print.

The error message is:

File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertokpsl" not available: No such file or directory
I don't know how to install rastertokpsl package, but it doesn't seem to be available for my system. I'm using MX Linux 21 (stable).
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
On the previous installation of MX 19, the printer worked properly

Have you seen this topic from the Ubuntu forums where the author discusses how to obtain and install
"rastertokpsl"?

https://askubuntu.com/questions/512046/ ... ups-filter
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

From its support site (or wherever you downloaded the file to install) there must be a tar.gz according to your preferred language, that file is within that tar.gz, you just need to extract (i.e.) and copy into /usr/lib/cups/filter/

I did everything and it doesn't work, now there is a message - File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertokpsl" has insecure permissions (0100775/uid=1000/gid=1000).

Code: Select all

sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertokpsl ; sudo chown root:root /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertokpsl

I changed the permissions of the rastertokpsl file to 100755 and the error message no longer appears. Unfortunately, the printer does not print anything

Then.. the installation is complete at least (it sounds like) .. but it's another issue ... Maybe you try with the most recent (just while you're at it) Liquorix kernel from MXPI ...
