3 pkgs in arm64

#1 Post by Jerry3904 »

I'm trying to test a side install of MX-23 Xfce on my Orange Pi 5 using mxpi, but it fails b/c 3 packages are not available in the correct format:

--xfce4-notes
--xfce4-notes-plugin
--thunar-shares-plugin

I'm not finding them so far online to download, but it would be preferable anyway if this install method would work.

TIA
Production: MX-23 Xfce, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 16 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB

Other: Raspberry Pi 5 with MX-23 Xfce Raspberry Pi Respin

i'm going to update the mxpi list to remove thunar-shares-plugin. I didn't realize it was still in there.

the others will have to be compiled for arm64 as they are not in debian. or I can make a special arm64 version of the pm file to not include any of them. I don't think they are on the official release anyway.

@dolphin_oracle Got the new list, thanks. But I keep running into problems and have concluded this just isn't going to work.

@Jerry3904 I just uploaded arm64 xfce4-notes packages to main. You may notice they are marked mx21. We just added that package to the MX-23 repo at the beginning of MX-23 development and never updated it.
XFCE4 did recently update it so that's on the to do list...
HP Pavillion TP01, AMD Ryzen 3 5300G (quad core), Crucial 500GB SSD, Toshiba 6TB 7200rpm
Dell Inspiron 15, AMD Ryzen 7 2700u (quad core). Sabrent 500GB nvme, Seagate 1TB

Purged the backports, tried again and it looked like it was going to go but

Code: Select all

Errors were encountered while processing:
 /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-LCAumG/00-desktop-defaults-mx-xfce-desktop-rpi_23.12.06mx23_all.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Tried to fix it

Code: Select all

The following NEW packages will be installed:
  desktop-defaults-mx-xfce-desktop-rpi
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 47 reinstalled, 0 to remove and 25 not upgraded.
47 not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 0 B/15.6 kB of archives.
After this operation, 187 kB of additional disk space will be used.
E: Internal Error, No file name for desktop-defaults-mx-xfce-system:arm64
Are you tired of this yet...?

I have no idea. the package is definitely in the arm64 repo. maybe something wrong with the apt cache on the local machine?

Tried to install the cached pkg, see the error:

Code: Select all

Unpacking desktop-defaults-mx-xfce-desktop-rpi (23.12.06mx23) ...
dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/desktop-defaults-mx-xfce-
desktop-rpi_23.12.06mx23_all.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/etc/skel/.config/xfce4/terminal/terminalrc', which is also in package orangepi-bookworm-desktop-xfce 1.1.8
I would remove the OPi package, since those defaults are pretty terrible, but suppose it will just get overwritten sooner or later.
