Re: new install mx23 nfs file sharing not working

#2 Post by bobbee »

I use nfs to share files with my virtual machines.
I have 2 installed mx21 and mx23 recently intalled
mx23 on my regular machine.

Anyway, the file shares used to work. I saved and copied over my config files.
I was expecting them to work here too.
But when I mount the share on the vm, it doesn't mount and eventually times out.
no errors

I also use infs on a file server for backing up files.. but it's not working right now so, I can't test that. But I do need to get things back to working for back-ups

I looked that some others had the same problem with different distros, but their solutions wouldn't work for me.

One or the things was about using lock as an option or making sure that rpcbind was active.

The exportfs command seems to work fine.

Probably need to adjust or disable the firewall.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

I'm not using a firewall.

I will check if ufw is active though.

I never installed ufw.. it must be active by default.

I deactivated it and it works.

I suppose I should find the settings to allow nfw through just in case.

Thanks :-)

Since NFS is already a well-known file service, "sudo ufw allow NFS" should also work if /etc/ufw/applications.d hasn't been changed.

I did open the ports suggested for ufw and nfs.

Thank you guys for the suggestions they worked well for me.

Thank you, this saved me.
I think a change of this sort should have been more documented (or does no one use nfs?). I spent quite some time trying to figure out why things worked with MX-21 but not MX-23...
