wifi connection problems AV Linux 23.1
wifi connection problems AV Linux 23.1
I have tried using the icon in the lower right corner of AV Linux. It sees available connections, but the password does not "stick." It is not connecting to the network. It wants WPS password, my home internet uses wpa. I'm not certain if wpa/wpa2 is the same as WPS,but the graphical interface gives me no option to change. I'm not certain where I need to look for the issue. I tried ifconfig, iwconfig, nothing seems to be getting me connected. The network tools are not very clear. They show drivers in use and that's about it.
Otherwise, I like the basic configuration of enlightenment and the fact that it is not a resource hog.

Re: wifi connection problems AV Linux 23.1
If there's a tiny button/switch (for wps) under/behind your router device: turn it off (that's just to use temporarily till you do the first configuration (without having to use a wire)) and that will be a security hole (cause it's just a simple and/or generic pw).
If no such physical buttons then enter router settings and disable wps there, save, exit...

Hi, in addition to the above... Enlightenment uses 'Connman' instead of Gnome Network Manager and as you noted provides a very minimal UI for setting it up. If you notice in the AV Linux Desktop is a PDF file for troubleshooting WiFi issues with Connman, in addition there is an application available in the MX Package Installer called 'cmst' which is a much more detailed setup utility for Connman..

I've hopefully uploaded two files in attempt to show my configuration. I went through the connman instructions. I need figure out how to enter add non interactive mode so that I can turn agent on.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: wifi connection problems AV Linux 23.1
I followed the instructions in the upper left hand corner of the screen. When I got to the password, that is where everything STOPS / breaks. Is there a file that connmanctl writes to that I could try editing in vim or nano? I did some basic recording tests with the reaper programs so that functionality is not hindered by this issue.

I put your system info here because there are a lot of folks who won't download a file from an unknown source. I have also encased it in code tags which makes it easier to read and navigate here in the forum.

Re: wifi connection problems AV Linux 23.1
Dell likes to push RAID as its default SATA control, however we have found that MX performs much better with ACHI. You should access your bios and make that change.

Re: wifi connection problems AV Linux 23.1
Hi, sorry got busy offline over the weekend..
Is your WiFi network adaptor a USB one?
It appears like the firmware and drivers for that particular Realtek chipset are not available in MX Linux by default, there are others but not that particular chip..
@timkb4cq any wisdom to impart about this?

aircrack-ng has that driver but I can't guarantee it will work on the 6.6.x kernels. His computer is from 2012.
https://github.com/aircrack-ng/rtl8188eusUp to kernel v6.5+ ... And a bunch of various wifi chipsets
