Pendrive wifi not recognized immediately

#1 Post by Domenico »

Good morning,
I have a little problem with my pc desktop. On it I have installed MX Linux 23.2 Libretto.
Every thing works perfectly, except for one thing.
When I boot the pc, with the ethernet cable disconnected, the pendrive wifi is not recognised; to make it recognisable, I must reboot the pc.
PC data:
- 64 bit
- 8G Ram
- Drive: SSD 256 G
- CPU: Intel core i 3
- Maker WiFi pendrive : Cable
Is there a way to avoid the reboot?

Thanks.

Welcome in!

Please post your QSI ( MX Menu | Quick System Info | Copy for Forum | paste here )
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

... particularly when you have rebooted and the device is on (so we can see its details within QSI) :)

Till then: Have you tried to just restart the network manager?

Code: Select all

sudo service network-manager restart

It seems it's using the driver in kernel (rtw_8821cu)

Normally rtl8821cu-dkms is ootb and with that it uses rtl8821cu (from github.com/morrownr/8821cu )

So, you can simply unload then blacklist the rtw_8821cu (and/or rtw88_8821cu ) via "MX Network Assistant" (also enable the rtl8821cu ), reboot.
