MX repository to be activated
MX repository to be activated
Hi everyone, I'm new to linux, I just installed the latest version of mx linux kde on my pc. I didn't really understand how the mx package installer works. How do I know which repository I need to activate in stable repo to install a specific program? For example, if I want to download ventoy (which is not present in popular applications) which repository should I activate?
Re: MX repository to be activated
You don't use MX Package Installer to install packages that are not available in MX Package Installer, that being said adding Ventoy might be a good idea.
Till we add it to the MX Package Installer (it could be 1-2 days) you can still install it using the procedure that is usually used for installing any other .deb -- either add a repo that Ventoy provides, or download the .deb and install it.

OK, that's a bit more complicated than I thought, I thought Ventoy provides a .deb, I see only a .tar.gz file, I guess somebody will need to package that.

This Ventoy Appimage seems to work. https://www.appimagehub.com/p/1994710 The extent of my testing it is only making one Ventoy USB, putting an .iso on it and booting it though. As it says, you have to make it executable and also launch it as root (either from comand line w/ sudo or by clicking it from root Thunar)
