Request for CDCAT - SOLVED

#1 Post by golf4fun »

CDCAT is a very easy to use catalogue software. I was unable to find it in any repo or as a previous request.

Next time please provide links and all, so it makes it much easier for the packagers.

Thank you Eadwine I am new to MXLinux and even though I tried to look this up I missed the link info.

I luckily have more than 1 Linux system and two others have this software but I hope to use it on the desktop with MXLinux as this is installed on my prefered desktop.

cdcat 2.3.1 & its lib7zip dependency are now available in the MX23 Test repository.

This program hasn't been updated upstream since 2013. Fortunately, somebody at AUR provided a patch to use Qt5 instead of the no longer available Qt4, so after a little more work fixing bitrotted code (deprecated syntax that no longer works) It built successfully.

I don't use cdcat, so let us know if this build functions properly so we can move it to Main.

Tried the CdCat software and it works exactly as I hoped.

Thanks for the quick response!

For any who have never used CdCat it is a very easy to use catalogue program. You can scan any drives you might store files on and save the text file generated as a Catalogue.

If you save multiple drives of data music video images etc create a catalogue for each drive. Grouping drives of like files in the same catalogue.

When you in future need a specific file CdCat lets you search by name and find the location of the catalogue where you stored the file.
