Hey All,
So I'm an exclusive MX'er now and I'm thinking of taking the plunge and getting an Oculus Meta Quest 3 VR Headset. I'm also a steam gamer and I use all the Proton packs effectively. I downloaded the Linux version of SteamLink and installed it fine. This is the package that will link the PC VR Games to the Oculus unit. So, My question is has any one done this yet in Mx. I'm holding back on getting the Oculus until I know that it will work with Steam/Linux. There are some VR titles on Steam that I would want to play on the oculus in VR (e.x. HalfLife:Alyx, Fallout 4 VR) that live on my Mx Linux PC.
Thanks!

We need your computer’s complete profile before we can proceed, so you need to post the output from the QSI utility. The Quick System Info (QSI) utility is located in MX Tools and its output is automatically formatted for use here in the forum. Run the QSI utility, click “Copy for Forum” at the bottom and then just paste it here in your thread.

I can't answer for the VR headset, but I did notice that you are using the 6.0.xxx kernel which is known to be very buggy. We also know that the Ryzen 5000 series and above perform best with a Liquorix 6.5.xxx kernel. I think that you should use MXPI to install the Liquorix 6.5.11 kernel, use Boot Options in MX Tools to make it the new default, and then reboot.

Oh interesting. I hadn't heard that. I'll definitely give it a look.

My experience with oculus/meta products is that you need to most likely run it trough their propiritary software first before steamvr can interface with the headset sadly and that one only comes for windows at least thats what i have seen from my own oculus rift i need to start the oculus software first(if it not has already opened because i bumped the headset slightly) and then only can i open steamvr for it to recoginse it. The only slight flicker or light might be this steam Guide:https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 2805545613TheLorax wrote: Fri Dec 01, 2023 11:35 am Hey All,

it lists a few projects that at least attempt to interface with oculus products some abandoned at least the rift support was so abysmall that i gave up on it trough i think there was a project in the list of github links that might work for you dunno.
Edit: I just realized that you had already a software to inteface between your quest and steamvr if its an offical valve product than it will probably work somewhat fine dunno about how well trough.
I would follow the suggestions for Wifi6 however trough or use a cable to connect to it.

Re: MxLinux Steam SteamLink and Oculus Meta Quest 3VR Headset will they work?
Ok so sadly according to the FAQ from Valve it says :
What operating systems can I use for streaming VR?
We currently only support Windows 10 or newer. Other operating systems such as Linux and macOS are not supported.
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/v ... -9135-38A4
So doesn't look like Steamlink will work for you there sadly you could still check out the projects in the steamguide i send earlier but thats all i guess
