@chrispop99 You were right about the hdmi cable being the problem I was seeing with the monitor; the one that came with the Cana kit is just not very good. Buying a high-quality shielded and heavily wrapped cable fixed not only the problem of the Display dialog box popping up but also the flickering of the cursor. It's hard to find a cable with a micro-hdmi end, at least around here, so I ended up buying an adapter and a 4' standard hdmi cable.

I saw one of the RPi Devs (Dom) say that the cable is usually responsible for the video problems people report,maybe especially on the Pi 5.
