when running the updated pipewire AND pipewire-setup-mx from the test repo, do you get a beep when you access the Xfce logout menu?
Hmmm, sorry I haven't tested on a pure MX XFCE4 install, I'm using Enlightenment and I don't get any beeps on it's logout.. @CharlesV ? @Stevo?

Yes there is a peep at logout once I installed pipewire-setup-mx You can also get this beep if you backspace when on the whisker menu.

This new beep also sounds now when I :
backspace in a dialog field when there are no more characters to delete
thunar address bar when I backspace and nothing in the address bar any longer.

It also sounds like it is an 'error' or indicator that sounds when something is not quite right or expected - an alert.

And confirmed - if I remove pipewire-setup-mx then it no longer happens.

So, if the PipeWire 1.0.0 Packages are kept in place and ONLY the setup Package removed the beeps stop?

Also are the beeps coming through your system speakers or through the motherboard 'PC Speaker' that does BIOS beeps etc.?

Correct. I removed pipewire-setup-mx only and everything still works that I can find, but that beep stops.

(I have had pipewire 1.0 installed and no beep, then installed only pipewire-setup-mx and the beep started.)

Sorry we posted at the same time, was the beep from the system speakers or the motherboard 'PC Speaker'?

Definitely through the speakers, and its a 'beeop' sound. ( beep + some depth, not just a beep.)

Edit: through the sound system - volume turns it down etc, so its a system sound.

its just libpipewire-0.3-modules-x11 I think, which the test pipewire-setup-mx brings down.

I think I'll remove the depend.

**just new package up for the test repo, sneak preview here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b19QpY ... drive_link

libpipewire-0.3-modules-x11 should be removable after install, and won't be pulled in for fresh installs.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

Yeah, I had noticed that X11 package was a new addition that wasn't pulled in before, does it have something to do with Wayland?

I can't test for the beep really but I will test the new setup package in general in a few minutes just to ensure it smoothly upgrades a fresh system..
