Problem with Cryptomatos in flatpak and canberra-gtk

#1 Post by fabio63 »

Hi everyone
On MX Linux 21 (but also out of 23 it is the same) Cryptomator in the Flatpak version opens the vault but then freezes. With the Appimage version, however, everything is ok.
Looking at the log (which I attach) there is this error:

Code: Select all

GTK-Message: 14: 07: 26.549: Failed to Load Module "Canberra-Gtk-Module"
Libgl Error: Mesa-Loer: Failed to Open i965: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gl/default/lib/dri/i965_dri.so: impossible to open the shared object file: non-existing files or directory (Search Paths /USR/Lib/x86_64-Linux -gn/GL/default/Lib/dri, Suffix _Dri)
Libgl Error: Failed to Load Driver: i965
I have already installed all libcanberra-gtk files.
Any suggestions?

Is there a reason why you prefer the flatpack over the appimage? If it was me, I'd use the one that works.

Edited to add:
We need your computer’s complete profile before we can proceed, so you need to post the output from the QSI utility. The Quick System Info (QSI) utility is located in MX Tools and its output is automatically formatted for use here in the forum. Run the QSI utility, click “Copy for Forum” at the bottom and then just paste it here in your thread.
Forum Rules

HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Hi j2mcgreg and thanks for the reply.
in fact for now I am using appimage, but the flatpack would update automatically along with the rest of the system, while appimage has to be updated manually and sometimes I forget.

Here is the output from QSI, thanks again.

Have a look at https://github.com/AppImageCommunity/AppImageUpdate . AppImage-Updates of appimages that contain 'zsync' data (like the cryptomator ones ;) ) are easy to automate by cli-scripts and the 'appimageupdatetool.appimage' cli variant :crossfingers:

I use a simple 'Session-StartUp' shell script to do this at every system start.

You've been misled. Our flatpacks do not upgrade automatically. You can only update them using the Flatpacks app in MXPI.

Yes, but I update with

Code: Select all

sudo apt full-upgrade -y && sudo flatpak update -y
and they get updated, which is why I wanted to switch to flatpak (although it seems to me, maybe I'm wrong, that appimages are lighter).

@l0dr3
That looks very interesting, I'll look into it, thanks.

That's not automatic since the update requires your intervention.

Ah, yes of course, I explained badly what I meant by "automatic".

I solved it by updating the appimage with a small startup script as suggested by @l0dr3.
Thanks to both @j2mcgreg and @l0dr3 for taking the time to address my problem.
