Move app to another category in Menu

#1 Post by MintHawk »

Hello, everyone.
After installing an app, it appears in the Accessories category in the Application Menu.
Can I move it to another category, and how?

Menu → Settings Manager → Menu Editor or right-click the menu and select Edit Applications.

OK, I got there, but what do I do? Do I change anything with the + or -?

I'm not using Xfce, I'm using KDE. So walking you though it I can't. You might have to right click menu and go to properties to get where you need to be. I'm a clicker, I click on everything until I get what I want. I was just pointing you in the right direction. There also doing it manually and I believe this application would work as well and easier to use call MenuLibre. Manually; https://wiki.xfce.org/howto/customize-menu

I don't think you hit the + or -. Ain't there something like move with an arrow? To move the app to the category you want it to be.

I tried doing something but although Artha is installed (this is the app I'm talking about) there is no visible launcher anywhere now in the Menu.

Edit: After playing around with it a bit, I found no other way but to delete the entry from one category and create a launcher in the other.
It took a bit of fiddling around but I did it.

Thanks for the answers.

BTW, there should be a simple way to move an entry from one category to another.

Glad you got it done. Try out menulibre next time. Instead using artha. I believe it much easier to use menulibre as the menu editor.

I thought they was talking about a different menu editor. So I mix up Artha with alacarte. Alacarte is a Gnome menu editor. That Artha was referring to the application they was trying to edit. Now I know what artha is and the mix up here is cleared up.

It took some time and but after playing around a bit, I got what you meant. Indeed, on the bottom left corner of the menu, you click on the up or down arrow to place the app where you want it to be.
Many thanks.

P.S. I didn't find a clear explanation anywhere on the Web on how to do that. I think XFCE should make a manual clarifying stuff like that.
