What have I got to lose here? Besides my mind? Which I don't have anyway.

I followed this guide/post below and it worked perfectly. All good now.

*Moral of the story is that automated tools are not always sensible. At least not with certain configurations like Optimus/Hybrid CPU integrated graphics and discrete GPU. Which worked like dog-sh!t on Windows too btw, so just another gimmick really.

I found a guide here that did the trick a few days ago:
viewtopic.php?t=55351#

Then last night, put the notebook to sleep and went for a walk. Resumed from sleep an hour later and the taskbar was gone, other missing elements on the screen, something seemed way off. So I restarted the computer and no GUI again. Not a big surprise knowing that a lot of people are still struggling with Nvidia resume from sleep issues on the interwebs. Thoughts? Should I just disable nvidia-resume and nvidia-suspend services as others have suggested?

I would turn off vblank in the composite settings. The setting is exposed in mx tweak.

That advice applies to xfce only.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.
