New Transifex Resource File: xdelta3-gui or patch.xdelta3
Hello.
Is the resource https://app.transifex.com/anticapitalis ... elta3-gui/, called "xdelta3-gui" or "patch.xdelta3" (according to the text of entry number eight) from MX Linux or is it from antiX Linux?
In Transifex, we translators have no way of knowing whether a resource is from MX Linux, or from antiX Linux, or from both GNU/Linux distributions.
There is no comment line.
How can we make good translations without knowing where each text will be used?
The ".pot" files allow the inclusion of comments that serve as instructions for the volunteer translators. And yet resources continue to be sent to Transifex without comments.
We need to evolve the processes to obtain two operating systems usable in all languages, in addition to English.
The translation of the language "pt_BR" was done by me, but it was done totally blindly, it must be totally inaccurate.
When will we be able to evolve the procedures to obtain better results?

Re: New Transifex Resource File: xdelta3-gui or patch.xdelta3
Could potentially be for both, if anticapitalista is interested to use it. Initially I wasn't even sure if it was for MX since it's a small tool with limited use that I wrote in a evening when I was bored. It can be used to patch ISOs, like for example from MX-23.1 to MX-23.2 (or to create a difference patch between such 2 ISO files).have no way of knowing whether a resource is from MX Linux, or from antiX Linux, or from both GNU/Linux distributions.
Any particular questions about strings?

there are comment lines for each gui element and the string harvesting will also pick up comments on the line before the string, for those in code.Adrian wrote: Thu Oct 26, 2023 5:44 pmCould potentially be for both, if anticapitalista is interested to use it. This information is very interesting.Could potentially be for both, if anticapitalista is interested to use it.
Within the project https://app.transifex.com/anticapitalis ... evelopment there could be two sessions or folders, one would be called antiX Linux and all antiX-specific resources would be in this location. In the same way, it could be done for MX Linux, as well as a third folder for antiX Linux and MX Linux and the organization would be much easier to do.
For example, in the project https://app.transifex.com/antix-linux-c ... ributions/, we have two folders, one folder is called "antix-contribs-testing" and is used to carry out all the necessary tests for the template files (.pot, .txt, .docx, etc.) to only then be moved to the other "antix-contribs" folder. This organization was made by Robin and can be used in the anticapitalista project. Around 90% of the resources in the "antix-linux-community-contributions" project have comments that serve as a guide for translators.
If you're "bored" and are capable of developing highly useful programs, then I wonder how wonderfully you're capable of programming when you're happy and excited.Initially I wasn't even sure if it was for MX since it's a small tool with limited use that I wrote in a evening when I was bored.
None of the sentences in the program contain this information, which is extremely important. The end user needs to know what the program is about, what the program is for, or what the program does.It can be used to patch ISOs, like for example from MX-23.1 to MX-23.2 (or to create a difference patch between such 2 ISO files).
Yes, I have several questions:Any particular questions about strings?
What phrases are used for the buttons?
What phrases are used for the window title bar?
What phrases are used for the window body?
Where will the phrase "patch.xdelta3" from entry number eight be used?
What phrases are used for the ".desktop" file?
What phrases are used for the ".desktop" file?
The word "patch" in English is problematic for automatic translation, as it does not make sense when used in computer programs. Would the meaning of the word "patch" be "fix the defective files" or "correct the defective files" or does it have another meaning?
I am not able to understand texts in English or any other language other than mine. I depend on automatic translators on the internet to try to understand and communicate, even so, I want to be able to do my best to understand Brazilian users of antiX and MX Linux. You have little faith in your capabilitiesA lot is logical thinking.
I know some people who are bilingual and have great knowledge of the English language, but none of these people are willing to work as volunteer translators for GNU/Linux. Therefore, people who master a second language are not willing to work as translators and not receive money for their work.

Esta informação é bem interessante.Could potentially be for both, if anticapitalista is interested to use it.
Initially I wasn't even sure if it was for MX since it's a small tool with limited use that I wrote in a evening when I was bored.
Em nenhuma das frases do programa possui esta informação que é de extrema importância. O usuário final precisa saber do que se trata o programa, para serve o programa ou o que o programa faz.It can be used to patch ISOs, like for example from MX-23.1 to MX-23.2 (or to create a difference patch between such 2 ISO files).
Sim, eu tenho várias dúvidas:Any particular questions about strings?
You have little faith in your capabilitiesA lot is logical thinking.
Eu conheço algumas pessoas que são bilíngues e possuem grande conhecimento sobre o idioma Inglês, mas nenhuma destas pessoas estão dispostas a trabalharem como tradutores voluntários para o GNU/Linux. Por tanto, as pessoas que dominam um segundo idioma não estão dispostas a trabalharem como tradutores e não receberem dinheiro pelo seu trabalho.

Thank you Marcelocripe for opening this thread.
In French, the word "patch" is generally not translated. Microsoft Windows sends out a patch to correct a vulnerability in a program.
Is it the same here?

I'm very happy that someone is taking care of the antiX community contributions. this is good.marcelocripe wrote: Fri Oct 27, 2023 7:45 amThis information is very interesting.Could potentially be for both, if anticapitalista is interested to use it.

We do not have a translation coordinator, and I've set up a lot of automatic processes to ensure translations are making it into and out of transifex already. I'm not going to be changing any folder structures, even if I could. I also don't see these two folders you are talking about in the antix-community-contributions resource, but I'm not a member of that team so maybe that's why. If anti wants to rearrange the resources into folders, I'll go along with it, as the transifex is technically his. But I see no problem with how its currently set up.
antiX and MX share a ton of code. not everything, but a lot. the projects have always shared resources. there is a huge advantage is sharing the string translations. Not the least of which is sometimes, strings are already translated when someone makes a new app, as transifex has a memory and a cross-app feature.
I have made efforts into adding comments to existing mx apps. it will be a long process, and one I can't work on all the time, but its happening. most of those apps have substantial translations already.
all that said, if someone wants the translation coordinator job, its open.
@Adrian can answer the specific translations questions.

Re: New Transifex Resource File: xdelta3-gui or patch.xdelta3
The app has two tabs, this is how it looks:
patch.xdelta3 should not be translatable, I fixed that in code, I also fixed a capitalization inconsistency that created two translatable strings "Create patch" and "Create Patch".
For description I could use help, I'm happy if somebody can write a better description of the app that is easier to understand and translate for now I have only "GUI for xdelta3 application." which I guess make sense only if you know what xdelta3 does...
Do you think "Create delta" or "Create diff" is more understandable than "Create patch"? For people who are used with computers "patch" has a pretty clear meaning.
