layout problem with clock plugin in xfce 4.18

#1 Post by phykris »

In the XFCE clock plugin:
- I choose to show the date before the time
- I put a newline before date, to reserve some space on top. This works - I get an empty line above the date.
- BUT for for some weird reason the distance between the date and time also increases.
As you see in the second attachment, the vertical distance between date and time also became bigger.
The datetime plugin does not have this bug (clock plugin does). I think it's a pure xfce problem.
I am on MX23
Is this a known xfce4.18 problem?

I have to believe it is. I can reproduce as well.
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

Reproducible - in both bullseye and bookworm as well as in trixie and sid xfce4-panel.

A single or double (or more...) '%n' before the custom string in 'Date' adds additional spaces between 'Date' and 'Time' strings.

As a WA, add one (or more...) separators of type 'Transparent' above the 'clock-plugin' ;)
