I am having an issue trying to install steam and I think it may be to do with NVidia drivers but am unsure.
I have tried uninstalling, restarting and reinstalling multiple times and installing some drivers but no luck so far
Graphics Hardware specifications:
Graphics: Device-1: Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics vendor: Lenovo driver: i915 v: kernel
bus-ID: 00:02.0
Device-2: NVIDIA GF108M [GeForce GT 635M] vendor: Lenovo driver: nvidia v: 390.157
bus-ID: 01:00.0
Device-3: Chicony Integrated Camera [ThinkPad] type: USB driver: uvcvideo
bus-ID: 3-1.6:3
Display: server: X.Org 1.20.4 driver: loaded: modesetting,nouveau
unloaded: fbdev, vesa failed: nvidia resolution: 1366x768~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: N/A v: N/A direct render: N/A
The error message I am receiving is:
It only pops up very briefly then disappears completely, I have only been experiencing this problem and have waited to see if Steam boots but no avail.
Do I have to get some drivers up and running to get Steam going? What's the problem?

Re: Verifying Installation Error when Installing Steam
I have jotted down in my notes that Steam has to be installed BEFORE installing Nvidia.
Not a clue if that might be it though.

The OP should check to see two things:Eadwine Rose wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 3:48 am I have jotted down in my notes that Steam has to be installed BEFORE installing Nvidia.

1. did they answer the question about accepting the EULA in the affirmative.
2. is the home folder full
the advice to install nvidia after steam is valid on mx21, but I don't think that's the problem here, as we are already past the problem point in the package installation.
the fact that there is no OpenGL renderer operating may be a bigger problem. I don't think the nvidia driver installation is complete.

I am trying to make some headway in installing drivers mostly through Synaptic but are yet to get an OpenGL renderer operating when checking inxi-Fdolphin_oracle wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 8:01 amThe OP should check to see two things:Eadwine Rose wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 3:48 am I have jotted down in my notes that Steam has to be installed BEFORE installing Nvidia.

Regarding point 1 & 2, I am sure I would have accepted the end user licence agreement but need to search more thoroughly to double check, my home folder is not full.
Why do I not have OpenGL operating despite installing multiple i386 drivers?
EDIT: Upon restarting I have an OpenGL Driver but upon restarting again Steam will not get past verifying installation which is my original problem
