Kernel Panic

Hi, I am a bit baffled by the new kernel 6.5. I was running 6.5-rc7 successfully and just used the .config for the 6.5 release. No way, system wont boot 9_9 (see pic) I am not the seasoned kernel hacker and would ask if anybody could point out the changes from 6.5-rc7 to 6.5

We don't have that that kernel available in any of our repos, so where did you get it?

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

It's trying to find the root filesysytem at block (0,0) which is not a valid partition. That makes me think the grub entry for 6.5 final is messed up.

Are any of the other kernel entries bootable?

I would boot with the LiveUSB and use the chroot-rescue-scan in MX-Tools to enter the partition and run

j2mcgreg: got the source from kernel.org
timkb4cq: all other kernels are bootable
you mention messed up grub entry, could be.
another funny thing is when building the kernel it compresses the result as linux.img instead of vmlinuz.img so update-grub does not take it
well, I am using the dist kernel now and wait for things to get better :-)

@ timkb4cq, tried your suggestion, but with the same result. So the only 6.5 kernel which I can build and use is the 6.5.0-rc7. Strange...
