Just thought I would note that KDE Plasma is changing the settings on this ... KDE Plasma 6 Default Behavior Is Now Double-Click For Opening Files/Folders https://www.phoronix.com/news/KDE-Plasma-6-Double-Click

I prefer double click as I often work with files and regularly open applications just by clicking the associated file type.

However, what about touch screens? They are single tap.....

Nobody seems to mention tapping.......or voice commands..... now that would be really painful... if you had to double voice command....:)

Before a "format all", or a "delete all", it is better to have voice confirmation before ;-)

Create a new file on the desktop, name it "all", then issue a voice command "delete all"

Single click in Linux and my occasional use of MacOS.
I originally switched from double click to single click because as an IT Tech working on mainly Windows systems, I started getting Occupational RSI in my right forearm and switching my Linux machines to single click gave me some relief. It wasn't long before I mastered it and I wouldn't have it any other way now. While I'm no longer a full-time tech, when I do the occasional Windows repair or anything else a customer wants, I have to use double click and it reinforces (and perfectly matches) how clunky the whole Windows ecosystem is.
