VBox configuration problem

#1 Post by crazysquirrel »

About daily, after shutting down the night before and starting the next day, I get an error about VBox.

Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver is either not loaded or not set up correctly. Please try setting it up again by executing

'/sbin/vboxconfig'

as root.

If your system has EFI Secure Boot enabled you may also need to sign the kernel modules (vboxdrv, vboxnetflt, vboxnetadp, vboxpci) before you can load them. Please see your Linux system's documentation for more information.

where: suplibOsInit what: 3 VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED (-1908) - The support driver is not installed. On linux, open returned ENOENT.

I do not have secure boot nor am I running GPT partitioning.

Running MX 19.x 64 bit and systemd (does it on vinit too)

That command does fix the problem, but the problem keeps returning.

I plan on R/R again soon but not sure which MX Linux to use.

Did you install VBox through the MX Package Manager (MXPI)?

If not, install it from there.

At this point probably best to wait a bit and go with MX-21? See https://mxlinux.org/mx-linux-blog/ to try it now in a VBox (yeah, lol).

I managed to get it installed.
I did R/R several times though.
