Interesting discussion.

For the first time ever with an antiX release, antiX-23 when released will default to double-click in its file-manager (now zzzFM).
This was implemented because some regular users/supporters/contributors have said it is what is expected.
Personally speaking, I hate double-click.

Being a Windows refugee I prefer the double-click. I tried single-click for some time, but it was too accident-prone, such as opening a file or launching a program when all I am trying to do is select it or drag it somewhere. It's particularly annoying if a file is executable, or if it gets opened with an IDE or some other large program. So double-click for me.

Can we be sure that the double clickers aren't double clicking the Double-click button when they vote?

Well I often right click to see what the options are. Otherwise single click is my friend.
Since users can change it what do I care.

Reminds me of when I'm watching a movie or TV show and the actor double clicks on HTML links. 🤣

It is a good initiative for the noobs and the olds users.

Adrian wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 10:06 am I wonder how do you prefer your mouse to work: single-click on items on desktop to open, or double-click to open (and single to select) like in Windows?

Of course we have MX Tweaks that can easily change the mouse operation mode, but I'm interested how people think about this, if they would have problem if the next release would be double-click by default for example.

Thank you very much for asking the users.

It doesn't matter so much to me since it is easy to change, so in order to make it safer and more streamline for new users I vote for double clicks as default.

On my own computer I have lately converted to single click, and I am beginning to think it in general might be the best for seniors. That is on Desktop and not in Filemanager.

All the years I have used Linux I have wondered when there would be mounted a warning for the Delete key.
It is still not there and it is not the matter in quest here.
I just want to point out that the cat still can be more dangerous than the mouse. ;)
