I wonder how do you prefer your mouse to work: single-click on items on desktop to open, or double-click to open (and single to select) like in Windows?
Of course we have MX Tweaks that can easily change the mouse operation mode, but I'm interested how people think about this, if they would have problem if the next release would be double-click by default for example.
Single or Double click?
Re: Single or Double click?
I'm a traditionalist. Single click.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;
In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

I'm a single clicker, less is always better in my book for any task.
Re: Single or Double click?
Double click. Been doing it that way on Linux since the mid-90's and prefer it that way. I know in MX-21 fluxbox that Thunar is set to single but now in MX-23 it's double. Yeah!!!
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Re: Single or Double click?
At work I still use Windows and I used to be a heavy Windows user before I switched to Linux, so Double-clicking is somewhat hard-wired into my brain.
But recently I have started to switch to single click on my Linux systems. I'd actually say both are fine for me. With single-click I can navigate a little faster, but I always fear to misclick somewhere.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Re: Single or Double click?
I've been using a mouse since mid-80s, and up until a couple of years ago I used double click. I then decided to give single click a try. It was tough for the first month, but now I would never go back to double click.

Re: Single or Double click?
None of the options apply to me.
For KDE Plasma, single click. But that's because Dolphin has the little "+" or "-" icon corners for each file entry which you can click on to avoid automatically opening a file, even if it's single click.
Thunar doesn't have that so I prefer it as double click.
I'm just looking at mouse click usage, not keyboard shortcuts/combination actions.

Re: Single or Double click?
Heck, a long time ago when I still used Windows, I set it to single click. Double-click is such a pain in the patootie...
There are exceptions to every rule...
and I know I'm mighty exceptional...

Double click. Muscle memory from decades of Windows clickety-click...
(I am also sometimes too fast with that button... a double-click saves me from myself.)

Re: Single or Double click?
Single-click is a tradition for KDE Desktop. Ii may be very comfortable because everything done by only one click.
As for double-click, it is a tradition of Windows, GNOME, Xfce and many more. I think double-click has good merits to avoid mis-operation by users. For example, it could avoid to delete a file or to run an unwanted application by mistake.
