I believe the hplip ( HP Printing) in the MX Package Installer has that 1018 printer driver in it and was working fine.

Have you tried installing that one?
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.

I have tried the hplip ( HP Printing) from the MX Package Installer.
It has a problem, that asks for password to continue/finish installation, but does not accept user password nor root password.

That printer requires an additional plugin in order to operate properly. After the initial install is complete, open a terminal and run

Code: Select all

hp-setup
which will download and install the plugin. Also note that according to the HP Developers Portal, that printer will only work with a USB connection.

https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imag ... ices/index
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

It is impossible to install Plugin, because of : not accepts password, that every other application accepts. I don't know why HP Installer does not accept my user-password nor my root-password
The HP LaserJet 1018 is connected with computer via USB original HP-cable.

Nobody commented :

Code: Select all

Where is located that file sources.list and how to disable CD Sources ?

Looking at the docs for this utility shows Bonjour in play and it needing UDP port 5353 opened in the User Firewall.

Not clear in the HP docs where com on this port is involved.

A change was made in MX 23 where the firewall is on by default. You might go to Settings --> Firewall Configuration, turn it off and then see if you can complete the printer install.
