I am not very familiar with using systemd, but for my laptops (HP, Dell, lenovo ) , I have found that the 6.2 kernel was MUCH better with everything - especially powering down. (I have only tried the 6.3 and 6.4 kernels on the latest MX beta's, and not on a daily rig yet - however these both are supposed to be even better at acpi too.)
Having said all that, I personally had so much trouble with the entire 'lid down - lock and suspend' .. that I gave up. What I do, every single time, is to lock the machine and *then* close the lid. This does seem to work - every single time, and on all machines that I have tried it on.
pm-suspend works only occasionally, often fails

Well all I can say is I am glad I am not the only one having problems here. If there is a 100% reliable solution, I would love to know.

@user101 Start a new thread, post your QSI . There can be quite a few reasons for the suspend failures ;-/

I have posted in here when looking for a solution:

When I see so many other people having trouble on different hardware, it is probably the software. Seen the problem on many other linux distros on different forums too.
Re: pm-suspend works only occasionally, often fails
Indeed, there is A LOT of hardware that is attempted to cover, and as such something just dont work. As I mentioned, the one that *always* works for me.. is to lock first, then close the lid.
I also do NOT have "lock" set in the security tab. and DO have lock set on the xscreen saver. For my machines, this works - however, as I aid... I do NOT leave my machine EVER without locking it by hand. I have several hard rules when it comes to computers, and this is #1.
