I installed RC2. In installer I selected an existing partition and while the progress bar was moving unchecked creation of the swap file and immediately received the "cannot mount partition" error. It may be a coincidence, of course. On the second try I waited for the progress bar to stop and everything went well.

MX looks like working nicely, but I cannot share a folder in Thunar, it says "net usershare" returned error 255. Sharing with MX Samba Config works and is reflected in Thunar in folder properties.

@Octagon
We need your computer’s complete profile before we can proceed, so you need to post the output from the QSI utility. The Quick System Info (QSI) utility is located in MX Tools and its output is automatically formatted for use here in the forum. Run the QSI utility, click “Copy for Forum” at the bottom and then just paste it here in your thread.
Forum Rules
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Using Linux MX 23 RC2 Xfce version.
After the last update of MX System Tools d.d. July 21, it gives here an error when using MX System Sounds setting: "This app is Xfce only".
When putting back my MX Linux backup of July 20, 2023, the error is gone! After the system updates again: The same error is back.

this is a known bug in 'thunar-shares-plugin'!

in bookworm/mx, version is 0.3.1

this bug *should* be fixed in 0.3.2, see: https://gitlab.xfce.org/thunar-plugins/ ... /issues/16

Need to get 0 B/264 MB of archives.
After this operation, 31.7 kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] y
Extracting templates from packages: 100%

I have figured it out.
My first post was #86. There were a few responses that were either unhelpful, or beyond my abilities to comprehend.
In post #91, I was told to reread a response. I read it repeatedly--I did not understand.
In post #97, DO told me in plain terms what I needed to do, and even added a link that made it all make sense. He didn't tell me how to do it, but left me on my own to figure it out. That was outstanding.
In post #99, PBEAR chimed in and offered help, which was very generous; but, in this case unnecessary.

So, I am in my happy place, now. I learned a lot from this very frustrating experience and am able to use MX as I desire (whether right or wrong).

Thank you all for the assistance--I truly do appreciate it.
