The error code if I boot off of the thunderbolt enclosure is:

Code: Select all

Fatal Error

I guess the live USB creator would be a separate issue that it can't see the enclosure drive?
May be add/select from=all boot parameter.
Yup! That did it. Maybe a "maybe needed for thunderbolt" should be added to the boot menu for from=all?

Hi,

At work I have system with nvidia card.
With nvidia driver not work virtual console (CRTL+ALT+F2) and also I not see any messages at boot or reboot/halt my system.

To fix this I added nomodeset to default grub config at boot:

Code: Select all

# /boot/grub/grub.cfg.

1 My entries in "Favorites" in the KDE menu are forgotten after a reboot, and it comes up completely empty. No MX Tools or anything in the "Favorites". It was not like this in beta2.
This one was fixed by a reinstall.

2 In Dolphin, in the "Remote" section, it does not offer to remember my password, when I set up a Samba share with Windows. So after a reboot, I need to re-enter my password in the Samba network share that I saved. It was not like this in beta2.

A fast and light test of NX-23 RC2 (KDE and others):
The bug where text in Czech appeared on Catalan localized version of MX-23 has been squashed.
Now, all the words in text-only screens (start-up and installer) are shown correctly in Catalan.
Many thanks to devs for this and all the work in this fine version of the new MX-23.

Hi, I hope everyone is doing well.
There seems to be naming issue with some wallpapers provided with MX-23-KDE-RC2
You can see in the screenshot provided with this message.

Hi @fehlix,
please, just one question: is mx-install designed to use also preconfigured partitions?

I mean a scenario: boot MX live, prepare my disk layout, create LUKS partitions with custom parameters (do the stuff I want - filling them with random data, edit key derivation functions, etc), then run installer, unlock LUKS containers within installer to provide passwords, and assign partitions to use as boot, root, home?
Is this scenario one of the intended uses?

Regards,
Andy

I think you can do this. you would unlock the partitions before running the installer. I think there is a right click option to add such partitions to the crypttab as well so that the system can boot them after installation.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

4. This seems not possible, as I tried to recycle root partition and separate home partition done by first install (I did not try to clear filesystem content though, right after cancelling of the first install try).
Installer allowed me to choose the ready LUKS containers, allow to unlock them, but did not allow to mark them for use as root or home.
...
Andy
It did not work, as I wrote already,
therefore today's questions.

OK, I'll try to install once more, with BETA2 RC2 + updates.
I want to reinstall anyway, to rule-out some corruption/misconfiguration, because graphical session on my laptop freezes after resume. (albeit I did almost no customization beside installing few packages.)

I have tried install, but "Failed to prepare subvolumes."

Logs attached.
But it seems Ventoy is causing problems. I will try boot to ram and remove USB flash, on next attempt.
