Sorry, dolphin_oracle,
the latest RC2 fails to create the desired partition. It ends up like the RC2 and RC1 with:

Code: Select all

2023-07-16 09:37:39.462 DBG default: SErr #10: "Error: Partition(s) 1 on /dev/sdc have been written, but we have been unable to inform the kernel of the change, probably because it/they are in use. As a result, the old partition(s) will remain in use. You should reboot now before making further changes.\n"
I created the live-usb-stick with dd to test it.
We know that creating the usb-live-stick with the MX Live Usb-Maker in full mode results in successfull installation on UEFI-PC.
that's with the updated installer? I didn't update the iso, just the installer.

Code: Select all

sudo apt update && sudo apt install mx-installer
while running live.
I didn't know that I should update the installer in the live-session.
Sorry.
Since I have a working MX23 installation, I only create live-usb-sticks with the MX-tool to avoid such failures and misunderstandings.
no worries. we are getting ready to send up the better fix anyway.

I read the official blog posts from MX website of the RC2 and RC2 releases of MX 23. It was mentioned that updating the RC releases to final release is fully supported. Looks like you're all set to receive the final release when it comes automatically via updates.

With the exception that any apps added after R1, R2 will not be included in the upgrade. A small thing, but worth pointing out.

I upgraded the HP 15 to rc2 and the only glitch is that my headphones don't wok but the speaker works fine. I had the same problem with MX 21 and it was solved by installing the Liquorix 6.2.xxx kernel. I tried the same fix here, but there was no change.

well i am hoping i do not have to reinstalll - not a gripe - just tedious to do what i do. so far other testing the wacom tablet everything seems to be working. i hpe that alll app updates will be available. i tried to read a bunch of stuff but knowing as little as i know i am starting to get confused. not sure where my system stands into the future. last 2 versions upgraded with no issues from rc1 to final release. hence why i thought this should be smooth esp. from all of the reports and comments od the final testing stages.

:-)))

i AM pleased from what i am experienceing 'in toto'!!!

Hello

Installed to whole ssd via (updated) Ventoy, following download and sha256 check.

Installing and uninstalling .deb packages works. Installing Flatpak works. DVD playback with sound works. Correct erroneous behavior of touchpad works. Software update (green icon) worked. Looks good so far.

Well done to all involved, and thank you
.

MX Tour translation (in german)

Jerry told me, when i was asking to help in translation, that MX Tour was already translated. Have RC2 installed, but MX Tour is only in english. He told me to pots it. I hope, this here is the right place.

tour does not yet support translation. it will in the future, but not at the moment. The original author left the project, so this one is behind.

Jerry told me, when i was asking to help in translation, that MX Tour was already translated. Have RC2 installed, but MX Tour is only in english. He told me to pots it. I hope, this here is the right place.
Does the English text makes sense to you? If so please get a transifex account - if not already done so -
and be ready to submit the translated German text on transifex. The English text for MX Tour will be shortly available and transifex for translation.
Thanks

Not a problem with 23 as such, just a short note for those who work with a frugal and encrypted install. MX23 will boot into an unencrypted frugal install with my usual boot incantation for the kernel but won't once moved into the encrypted partition. In my case I had to change the boot incantation from

Code: Select all

quiet loglevel=0 persist=root!,home! bdir=MXL blab=WinsysPart
to

Code: Select all

quiet loglevel=0 persist=root!,home! bdir=MX23 from=hd
ie replacing the blab= with a from=.

Other than that so far MX23 seems to be work :number1: . There are a couple niggles but I am still investigating and if I can't find a solution will post further messages.
Frugal installs on Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Ryzen 5 4650U/24GB * HP Pavilion Ryzen 3 3300U/16GB * Toshiba R950 i5-3340M/12GB
I have a reservation... What do you mean it's not in the COMPUTER!
