OK, that worked, the synaptic upgrade to mx-installer was installed.

This is on a fresh USB copy, I re-loaded it in my beta2 onto the same stick.
I installed the new installer, and hit install, all went as normal. In the partition window this time the USB (sdc) did not appear, but when proceeding it said

Reuse (no reformat) sdc2 as EFI System Partition
I am posting from the RC1 now, so the install was a success.

Looks good, now to start the tweaking list...

With all due respect, the ISOs should be remastered. Notification is not sufficient for a bug with such dire consequences.

No but they are faster. Takes a while to rebuild 6 isos. But that is in progress.

Thanks d_o, that was a fast fix, and it worked. Installation was normal, I am posting from a patched installer based install right now.

Works great, all my tweaks so far have worked, not done with firefox yet.

But installed the usual 240 packages (all those dependencies !), running smoothly after the reboot following nvidia driver installation.

Nice to see FSearch back in the repo, I use that a lot. The only package I use that is wanting, is warpinator.

Hi MX DevTeam,
I will start off by saying, this was a ridiculously quick boot of the live usb. So quick I thought I had done it wrong and rebooted. lol truly amazing.
One point to note that using the media check option from the main menu then goes straight into the Live usb. Should it not then go back to allow you to change default language etc?
Installation, When starting from a blank SSD and via the installer, making your custom partitions. It does it wrong in my opinion. Create an ESP partition (sda1 for ex), create a swap file - what? that now becomes sda1 and the ESP partition is now sda2. It should be creating the next option as no2, then no3, then no4 etc. So I did custom partitions via gparted.
Given all the issues I had read about the installer, even though fixed. Via gparted I always turn off the ESP flags for all other SDD's in my system to prevent corruption. So not a real test of your installer apologies. To be honest I never trust ANY OS installer in that regard. Once the new OS is installed you can simply go and put the ESP flags back. FYI (on my system at least) Windows always runs even though I may have forgotten to put the ESP flag back.

Actual installation, was equally quick as booting the live USB and the system restarted perfectly. Nvidia driver installation, went as smooth as silk and now recognises my Zotac RTX4070

MXTools Codecs Installer displayed an error mesage - not sure how relevant it is to codecs working or not.

RC2 doesn´t work either. Same failure again.
I created the live-usb-stick with the MX appimage installer. (which refuses to write a full usable image, I have to select the option for non-MX-isos which are written with dd on the usb-stick)

I found the solution for this bug:
While being in the live-system, I used the MX Live Usb-Maker there to create a new live-usb-stick.
It accepted to create a full usable MX-usb-stick where changes can be stored to the usb-stick. No dd .
With this new usb-stick RC2 installed without problems on the partition I created for the new installation.

23 RC Failing to format required partitions ...

23 beta 2 was all fine. Simple constellation with a 128 Gib SSD install entire disk without any customization. RC version failing to format at arond 9%. This installer is a problem with MX, not easy with MX 21 also. Other debians go straight through with the installation as it should be. Persistent installer issue potentially keeping people away from MX. I am back to using 23 beta 2, which is really flawless so far.
