@Jerry3904 You can set the transparency level to make it easier to see. Open Conky Manager > Edit Widget > Transparency.

Set Transparency Type to Semi-Transparent and any value besides 100 for Opacity. (compton must be running)

This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

I had re-written the Geeky-Tower conky file, so I tried two other things - 1. I created a temporary new user and copied over from there, the bit that did the Ethernet speed, to no avail. Then I logged in as the new user, and changed conky to the Geeky-Tower, displaying a totally unamended version, as provided with MX Linux, and still no graphical confirmation of download and upload speeds. I don't know why Jerry's computer should behave differently to mine!

In the temporary new user area, I also tried switching off my wired internet and connecting via a wireless dongle, and it made no difference. Textual confirmation of the wireless speed but no graphic.

I know. Was trying to help the problem poster figure out how to diagnose and solve.

Problem installing Liquorix 64 bit Kernel from MX Package Installer Popular Applications Kernels section.

This stands out: "E: Internal Error, No file name for linux-headers-6.3.9-1-liquorix-amd64:amd64"

It ends with: "Problem detected while installing, please inspect the console output." Copied below.

Sorry @Jerry3904. Didn't realize you were responding to davemx.

@davemx geekytowerLogo works for me also. I made two small changes to see the results better. (changed the update interval from 5 seconds to 1 second and the color white (000000) to green (19db69))

conky.config section

Code: Select all

-- Update interval in seconds
	update_interval = 1,
conky.text section (template6 = 'wlan0')

Code: Select all

${if_up ${template6}}${color2}
WIRELESS (${addr ${template6}}) [${wireless_link_qual_perc ${template6}}%] ${hr 2}${color}
   Down: ${downspeedf ${template6}}kB/s ${alignr}Up: ${upspeedf ${template6}}kB/s
   ${downspeedgraph ${template6} 30,120 19db69 19db69} $alignr${upspeedgraph ${template6} 30,120 19db69 19db69}${else}

Not a problem. @davemx: the only question for this thread is whether the default conky that MX delivers with MX-23 works on your machine. Otherwise please start a separate thread of your own--and state right at the beginning that you have modified the original.

davemx wrote: Thu Jul 06, 2023 12:16 pm I had re-written the Geeky-Tower conky file, so I tried two other things - 1.

In order to see the up-/down speedgraphs you could set two colors.
in below screen capture I used '000000' (black) and 'ffffff' (white) --> which creates the graph fading from white to dark-grey, You can of course play with any other color combo that you like.

In KDE the title bar colors quit changing unless I logout or restart. This was working fine for the past week that I have been testing beta 2 and only started giving trouble today.

Hey, people: please stop posting here on this topic. It has nothing to do with this very long thread.
