Re: MX-23 beta 2 feedback thread

#271 Post by faithflux »

I have a Minisforum Neptune HX99G. This mini PC has AMD Radeon™ RX 6600M dedicated video card and a AMD Ryzen™ 9 6900HX Processor with GPU as well (AMD Radeon™ 680M).
At live boot I get a screen to select one. MX Linux will only boot from the processor graphic not from the dedicated AMD Radeon™ RX 6600M. Don't know why. If I select this one,
My monitor will go black and it gets like disconnected. Any ideas?

In the BIOS there should be a setting which will control which GPU will be used for the primary display. Make sure it is set to start with your discrete GPU instead of the IGPU.

I have 'Librewolf' installed but it doesn't show up here, instead in the command output there are two chromium when I only have one - I don't understand, something I'm doing wrong? Thanks...

Code: Select all

keos@kaos:~
$ sudo -i
[sudo] password for keos:
root@kaos:~# update-alternatives --config x-www-browser
There are 3 choices for the alternative x-www-browser (providing /usr/bin/x-www-browser).

  Selection    Path                Priority   Status
------------------------------------------------------------
* 0            /usr/bin/chromium    40        auto mode
  1            /usr/bin/chromium    40        manual mode
  2            /usr/bin/mx-viewer   20        manual mode
  3            /usr/bin/palemoon    40        manual mode

Librewolf is not available because this is a beta release and the repositories are not nearly complete. I think that you would be better off to return to MX 21.3 and wait for the release candidates before attempting to upgrade.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

mx-packageinstaller-pkglist (in /usr/share/mx-packageinstaller-pkglist ) does not reflect mx-packageinstaller-description which has been translated at Transifex.

As a result, descriptions are still indicated in default English. See the attached image for reference.

Best regards,
Green
i do not have the tools to import the strings form transifex into the package descriptions. all that was set up by other people. if someone wants to do it and make a pull request to our git hub for mx-packageinstaller-pkglist, I will surely incorporate them.

likley you did nothing wrong, but I would file a bug with librewolf. that is a third-party repo and we do not package it, they do.

will be fixed for final, thanks

Re: k3b & Xfburn - weird issues...

On Mint XFCE 21.2 Beta, everything works fine. k3b works great, no errors, Xfburn burns .mp3s without the above-mentioned distortion and easyMP3gain can easily be installed via Snap instead of manually downloading the front-end here (as stated in another thread). Also, on the other PC which runs MX23 Beta, for some reason, easyMP3gain does not work, but on the PC I'm using right now it does...
I'm pretty sure things with k3b are gonna be OK on MX23 KDE Beta 2, but for the sake of the argument, I'll download it and check it out so the developers now where to focus.
Overall, each one uses their PC for their own personal reasons, with a set of specific tasks in mind they want to perform.
There are some who still burn CDs (for some crazy reason) and it seems I cannot do that right now on MX23 Beta. Thus, I'll have to uninstall MX23 Beta from the other PC
and install an Ubuntu derivative that does the job (probably Mint XFCE). However, I wouldn't like to uninstall MX23 from this PC, so I would appreciate it if a solution could be found concerning the issue with k3b. Alternatively, I'll have to go for another distro that can do that hassle free.
are you burning music or data cds?
