The proposed solution solves exactly your problem - iso does not boot properly.
Login at ventoy github, download patch, apply patch to the ventoy usb, then the ISO will boot.

You may want to give more details:
"MX Package Installer" latest version 23.6 displays here correctly:
with system locale in English:mxpi_en.jpg
and also in Japanese:mxpi_ja.jpg

@fehlix Same problem. I have xmms and librewolf installed but popular apps doesn't show it until I start typing in at least two characters into the search field. MXPI version 23.6
With your mouse left hover over the | to left of the word Package.
The mouse cursor should change to <-->
Left-click and hold while pulling right.
Does the icon now appear?

@FullScale4Me I can't get my mouse cursor to change to the <--> character but I am able to find that spot to grab. :number1:
Now I can see all installed packages under Popular Applications. I guess the Category field needs to be a bit longer in length.

This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

k3b & Xfburn - weird issues...

#203 Post by MintHawk »

A weird issue came up today while trying to burn an audio CD.
The software I've been using for more than 15 years, k3b, was unable to burn a CD/DVD due to permission insufficiency with the burner.
It said I needed to go to k3b configuration and give permission to growisofs, etc.
I've never witnessed such an issue before. I looked it up, but whatever I tried didn't work. Eventually, I had to burn the project with Xfburn.
And then, the second issue came up:
It was a bunch of .mp3s and another of .flac files. The .flacs burned fine but the .mp3s sounded distorted, for some reason.
When it occurred to me that this was the case, I converted them to .flac and the burned result was fine.

Both these things happened on the PC running MX23 Beta in my parents' home.
I'm now trying the same thing on my desktop PC running the same MX.

Can anybody explain what happened?

P.S. I thought it was a software thing, so I posted it there, but the thread was locked.

The same thing happens on my desktop PC.
As for Xfburn, the same thing again: the burned result coming from .mp3s is distorted, whereas the burned result that was .flacs is fine.

Is there any chance we'll see an MX-23_AHS beta? The non-AHS version will not run on some newer computers, so there is no way to take part in the trial.

MX 23 currently has a 6.1.0-9 Debian LTS kernel. Try booting from a live USB.

@TTwrs, AHS versions are not usually built to after the full release has had a bit of time to settle. You can still contribute to an extent by using virtualisation and with your level of hardware, running a Type2 Hypervisor like VirtualBox would have next to no impact on your system resources.
If you're up for a challenge, you could "roll your own" AHS respin manually in the Hyprevisor, and snapshot it to get an ISO, but, it wouldn't be useful in our current testing.

k3b & Xfburn - weird issues...

#208 Post by MintHawk »

Back to the burning issue...
I installed Mint 21.2 Beta and after installing k3b (on the live USB), I successfully burned the project.
I'm thinking it's an issue with either XFCE or MX Beta, although I've seen it mentioned in other distros as well...
It's worth looking into, though, since k3b is probably one of the best pieces of open source software.

Does it work with the MX KDE beta 2?

Personal: Lenovo X1 Carbon with MX-23 Fluxbox
Other: Raspberry Pi 5 with MX-23 Xfce Raspberry Pi Respin

Not sure.
I'm gonna check it tomorrow.
What I can safely say, though, is that on Mint 21.2 Beta XFCE (same version as MX23) the burn process was completed successfully.
It seems to me that Ubuntu has nailed it with this one and that it might be a Debian thing...
