HP Envy x360 2/23 - Just loaded Beta 2 on board and everything came up nicely, other than:
1) Sound still not playing in speakers (hasnt ever since I loaded MX on board - no matter what I have done)
2) Wireless networking REALLY slow

Havent had a chance to work with any of it yet, just started really looking at it.

Ventoy upgrade code upgrade to allow MX Linux 23 to boot

How to find https://www.ventoy.net/en/doc_github_ci.html I had to poke into a few 'actions' to find one with download links.

Once downloaded and unarchived open terminal in folder of unzipped archive and run

Code: Select all

sudo sh Ventoy2Disk.sh -u /dev/sdX
where X is the target USB.

The -u switch is for upgrade...it doesn't touch the partition of ISOs.

@FullScale4Me I don't have an account to download the ventoy-linux file.

Thank you, that was the piece of the puzzle I was missing. If I've read that page before (likely enough), I had long since forgotten about it, so poking around on the Actions page (@fehlix's link) wasn't doing me any good. Notably, as @siamhie mentions, one must have a GitHub account (I do) and have signed in (I hadn't) before the download links become available. FWIW, this download link worked for me (though, again, only if logged into GitHub). Downloads a zip file; unzip to a tarball; extract; if using File Manager, right-click and select Open in Terminal. As you say, run sudo sh Ventoy2Disk.sh -u /dev/sdx (where sdx is the device ID of the Ventoy drive).

And, yes, the patch works and I'm able to boot the beta2 ISOs from Ventoy.

@pbear Working for me also. @FullScale4Me sent me a link to download the update and now I have a working Ventoy 1.0.91 flash drive again. :number1:

hello dolphin_oracle
on side and off side
mxfluxbox rootMenu >Out of sight >Toggle icons "[exec] (Toggle icons) { idesktoggle icons }"
strip command of trailing single "s", fehlix put it in the script;
officially the command is without s <idesktoggle icon>

If You could have what You wanted for a CursorOver: cursor, What would that be? a helicopter? a dolphin?
a kat? I think the man cursor looks a bit like a helicopter..
irilii
Consider. icon [ on | off ] to be icon [ PageA | PageB ]
Page off=PageB starts Blank.
Get two idesk menues.
Method two
Have idesk running, showing icons,
using mx-idesktool
Create an idesk icon name PageA with its command <idesktoggele icon> then run
<idesktoggle icon PageA.lnk>
The toggle switches the PageA.icon-send-to-other-page.
Method one
Have idesk running
Turn the icons off with
fluxbox rootmenu >Out of sight >Toggle icons
Now open mx-idesktool
fluxbox rootmenu >Appearance >Desktop icons
Create an icon its name PageA with its command <idesktoggle icon>

Quit mx-idesktool.
Now idesk is two pages.

The PageA icon is a signal of icons off.
PageB is now "off" stage with a PageA icon meaning launch "on."
Add icons two separate pages.

You can now menu toggle the two idesk presentations or you might
Click on the icon you just made, takes it to Page A, open mx-idesktool and Create an icon named PageB with its command <idesktoggle icon>

Works:
  • Updated all packages
  • nvidia driver installer Installed correct nvidia 525 driver for quadro m5000
  • nvidia driver installer also auto-installed the necessary cuda packages for nvenc (haven't seen any other distros include nvenc components)
  • kdenlive and shotcut both utilize nvenc for gpu-based video rendering
  • sound thru nvidia quadro hdmi works
  • both network cards work fine
  • mpt2sas driver works flawlessly with onboard LSI sata/sas raid controller working solid (experienced lockups under heavy load on freebsd)
  • zfs modules load and can import/move/rename/scrub zfs mirrored pools and datasets
  • gufw and ufw cli work fine
  • enabled all hardening mitigations on kernel cli to see if anything breaks (can't break it yet)
What didn't work:
  • couldn't wake up/resume from hibernate. confirmed same TPM bios settings as discussed with another user in beta1 thread so on me to fix
  • kde-based ufw interface keeps showing "disconnected from backend" if I attempt to make a change
Nice work MX Team!

Is there any way to upgrade from 21 to 23?

@Empty Handed Read carefully.

Upgrading from MX-21 to MX-23 without reinstalling

Fluxbox:

Opening Settings Manager then clicking Edit results in a terminal prompt for root. (sudo password doesn't work.)

If running live, the root password (root) does open the config file (mxfb-settings.list) in Featherpad OK.
