Reading this thread, the first question in my mind was: why not use mx samba config ?
I installed MX Linux on my 2nd machine and made up a samba_share just for test and used the given tool mx samba config :)
Sitting at my win10 game machine and I can move files to my mx linux machine.
Is there a specific reason, to NOT use the mx samba config tool ?
happy weekend =)

Excellent! Glad you got it! ( I must have read and overlooked that dang s 20 times!)limotux wrote: Sat Jun 17, 2023 3:01 am Just to update you. I did it.
I just searched and searched, till finally I figured out the conf file should read as follows:
[limo]
path = /home/limo
comment = Limo's Home Folder
browseable = yes
guest ok = yes
read only = no
create mask = 0755
directory mask = 0755
I removed the part called "homes" as it was pointing to folder "homes" which does not exist.
I just thought to share so it might be helpful.
Thank you very much for all your time and effort

Because I am relatively new to MX Linux. I didn't know it was there, so I tried to do it manually unfortunately.gabbawokky wrote: Sat Jun 17, 2023 6:01 am Reading this thread, the first question in my mind was: why not use mx samba config ?

Tahnks @CharlesV I really appreciate your support, dedication and patience in helping me. I have learned at least that I better search for an app to do whatever I want on MX Linux. It is a realy user friendly distro.CharlesV wrote: Sat Jun 17, 2023 11:04 am

I myself was surprised to find there is an app for this instead of doing it manually.
