SOLVED THE CLEMENTINE ISSUE!

The problem is that when Plank tries to open Clementine (from the Plank icon), it uses the Clementine default behavior.

Since Plank is trying to open Clementine for the first time, it will use the default preference, which is: "When Clementine starts" - > "Remember from last time". However, opening the first time in Plank, there is no "last time", so the GUI does NOT open. Here it is in pictures:
clementine_preferences.png
Simply change the default behavior of "when Clementine starts" to: "Always show the main window":
clementine_preferences_updated.png
Done!

The "Proof":

MXFB user-devs: any objection to going with this as default in MX-23's overlay file? (Trying to tie up any loose ends for B2/RC.)

Code: Select all

# force slit to un-autohide (left and top sides) on MX-23
slit.borderWidth: 0
slit.bevelWidth: 2
I'll take silence as = no objection
Production: 5.10, MX-23 Xfce, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 16 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Personal: Lenovo X1 Carbon with MX-23 Fluxbox

Hi,
now I have the problem for the second time:
I start virt-manager (previously I added myself to the group "libvirt" and started libvirtd), start MX21xfce live-iso, start the installation. The VM stops at 15%, I could just give the computer name. The mouse moved only stuttering, but slower than slow motion. Keyboard input was no longer accepted. I could not close any windows either. Ctrl+Alt+Del did not help either.
I had to turn off the laptop without shutting down.

After rebooting the laptop and logging in as user, I got a popup that wanted the password for root to run xkill. I didn't give this password during the installation and so it doesn't work. As user I can not run sudo: I get the message that I am not in the sudoers file.

Before the crash, my user password worked fine.

I can't explain it to myself.

What can I provide you (besides QSI) so that you can possibly find something with your trained eyes and knowledge.
As I said, it happened for the second time now.

Thank you very much in advance.

Edit 1: The brightness buttons for the screen on the keyboard no longer work either. I do get the popup for the brightness control, but nothing is changed. I have to use the brightness systray.

Edit 2: I think it has something to do with btrfs. I had such a problem also once under Spiral Linux and VirtualBox.
My technical understanding is very minimal, but if I imagine that a VM wants to create an ext4 filesystem on a btrfs host system that it will cause problems there.

Would be nice if I could get some "enlightenment" from you guys ;-)

My plan is to start a fresh install with ext4.
I have no experience with libvirt and virt manager, but I can't imagine the creation of a file with an ext4 file system inside, would matter. but obviously there were major issues if the installation on the virtual machine messed up your real machine. that should never happen.

Check for running instance is present.

Can? What is the failure factor? of sample
ADD Bring to Focus idesktool running instance
?. with wmctrl -R (?) is it okay?

line 93

Code: Select all

## Ensure only one instance of this script is running
me="$(basename "$0")";
running=$(ps h -C "${me}" | grep -wv $$ | wc -l);
[[ $running > 1 ]] && wmctrl -R "${TEXT5}" && exit;
failure might be editing the same file in more than one instance.

bring app into focus might be a good idea, but its a yad script and the window changes. I think we will keep the safeguard as-is, thanks for the suggestion.

I'm out working today so will try to figure out what you mean later.
this is referring to validating the type of icon chosen. I think the way its currently written in mx-idesktool its always true.

however the suggested change is also incomplete.

@Jerry3904 I incorporated the changes. Will package tonight.

That variant produced no change in behavior in my test with an installed b1 (reported above somewhere), but I will test again to be sure. Thanks.

what iso did you start from? we do not have a recent update for libnns-systemd.

showing quick-system-info as well as

Code: Select all

sudo apt dist-upgrade -s
would be good.
