64 bit XFCE - manual partitioning via gparted before starting the installer. This SSD will share more than one Linux OS.

Still no change with Nvidia RTX4070 not being recognised.

Code: Select all

sudo ddm-mx -i nvidia -f nvidia-driver
works to install nvidia-525

Will continue testing the rest of the system for general day to day and game use via steam.

I'm at a bit of a loss on driver detection for your part, as the PCIID does not appear in nvidia's lists. very strange.

I could set up the installer tool so that it can offer to install nvidia-driver when it can't detect a part. your part is the first time I've seen a part not be in the PCIID lists.

Will and when yes when will Upgrading like "Upgrading from MX-19 to MX-21 without reinstalling" https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/upgradi ... stalling/ be possible? When and where mx23repo.asc repo key will published? How to solve the error when DKMS can not find net/ipx.h?

xfce 64bit

Every new login let the message apear: "you are connected to wifi/ethernet".

Even though I clicked on "Do not show this message again", it still keeps showing me this message when I log in.
Another one that the fever of MX Linux grabbed

For the second time while updating my MX-Fluxbox 23 Beta, Nala freezes on 98% with "opening dpkg". The first time was the first update after installation. It results with a dpkg error and dpkg has to be manually reconfigured to fix this. Not sure if it is a problem with Nala or MX-updater, but I have never experienced such a behavior on MXFB-21 with apt, or even while testing MX-FB 23 alpha.

Would be good to know what package was involved. Maybe post apt-history.

I noticed that in some cases it looks like the nala display just doesn't update. at one point the update was actually finished and nala didn't report as such. hitting enter closed the updater window. I've seen this when the update process files the entire terminal window, but not every time.

the update of ntpsec takes an epic amount of time.

Issue: EFI entries disappear on restart

While I was testing LiveCD features, I noticed a strange thing. After restarting from Beta 1 UEFI loading takes much longer time and ends with error like "no OS to boot". No matter how many times I restarted the machine, only after complete power off UEFI managed to detect all drives. I thought that it's something related to updated antiX/MX loader or smth like this, so I didn't think much about it.
However, I encountered the same issue after installation on testing HDD. But now UEFI only allows me to boot Beta 1 entries(MX23 and UEFI OS). So, now I need power off machine everytime to boot a primary OS. Yeah, I tried boot it with GRUB shipped with installation (osprober has already added an entry). The thing is that GRUB reports "no such device", but booted Beta 1 can mount this drives.
I don't really remember such problems with dual-boot on MX21. I could reproduce this issue on other machines, but it's the only one with UEFI. Also, there is some similar thread in arch forum. It's something about restart modes, but I don't really knowledgeable about kernel internal stuff.

This sounds like your computer is hanging when it initially searches the USB bus for a boot source. You should access your bios and adjust the boot devices list so that USB devices are the last option or don't appear at all.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

xfce4-appfinder and vlc mxpi entries should be resolved at next update of mx-packageinstaller-pkglist. thanks for the report.
