The new version does work, but only with the new MX-23 idesk. Should be restricted to its presence, I think, but not sure how to do that.dolphin_oracle wrote: Sat Jun 03, 2023 10:38 pmif it works there is no reason to wait. we can push it out anytime.Jerry3904 wrote: Sat Jun 03, 2023 9:04 pm @ceeslans @kobaian @Melber @dolphin_oracle @i_ri
Are we good to go with the updated mx-idesktool for the b2 or rc, whichever comes next?

we've addressed this bug in the latest mx-installer coming soonish.
Have made a snapshot from my running system (ext4) and made a live-usb, then installed it with btrfs. No failure notice anywhere, login works, timeshift runs with btrfs.
Many thanks!

Another one that the fever of MX Linux grabbed

Re: MX-23 beta 1 feedback thread
Compiz is no longer in Popular Apps, so I just installed whatever MX21 installed packages were generated by UIP. This list didn't include emerald, and it wasn't installed when I installed the listed packages using UIP (I thought it would be pulled in as a dependency, but no).
After I manually installed emerald, I ran UIP again. It still isn't listed in the list of installed packages. Very weird.

VLC is already installed: MXPI shows it NOT installed: MXPI even let's me install it (over the current install): So, again, not really an issue, as I wouldn't try to install a package that I already have; I would just ignore the empty check-box in MXPI.
Don't know if it's worth "fixing". Just putting it out there...

Re: MX-23 beta 1 feedback thread
Here's my QSI, logged-in with: persist_root & toram:
1. Same issue with VLC: in MXPI, showing UN-installed. See my previous post. Anyway...
2. Here, NO firefox showing in Whisker (Applications) Menu: Again, not really an issue for me, as there's a Firefox icon at the top of my panel: And, I have put Firefox Icon in Plank: This may be a moot point, since I am working off a LIVE-USB environment; perhaps once installed, all will be well. Again, not that I really need to see Firefox in the Whisker menu, anyway.
Maybe this Much Ado About Nothing.

xfce 64 bit
Set my Power-Management -> Close lid: turn off screen
Set Tweaks -> screen-settings: xrandr scale 1,5.
All in all it works. When I close the lid and open it again, the original resolution is displayed again. Tweaks, however, still shows a scaling of 1.5. Only a click on "Apply" makes it appear again also at 1.5 (a bit blurry though, the blur goes away when I log out and log in again; was already like that in MX 21)

Re: MX-23 beta 1 feedback thread
OK, will do. I didn't take note exactly how in MXPI I got to the point where install was clicked then. I may have offered confusion with the extra details up front. With 13 years of help desk experiences I developed a habit of capturing a lot of fine detail.asqwerth wrote: Sun Jun 04, 2023 7:33 am @FullScale4Me
Install Virtualbox via the MXPI Popular Apps tab, and you won't have any issue with VB 7.0.6. No need to manually add your user to the vboxusers group. Everything is done for you.
So, apt purge virtualbox, then autoremove followed by .config and VM folders deletion.
Reinstalled via:

Still had a minor cough....being Unix not sure it means anything:
Code: Select all
Loading new virtualbox-7.0.6 DKMS files...
/usr/sbin/dkms: line 2497: echo: write error: Broken pipe
Building for 6.1.0-9-amd64
/usr/sbin/dkms: line 2497: echo: write error: Broken pipe
Building initial module for 6.1.0-9-amd64
/usr/sbin/dkms: line 2497: echo: write error: Broken pipe
Done.
/usr/sbin/dkms: line 2497: echo: write error: Broken pipe
