Xfce 64 bit

Contrary to some earlier posts, vlc is playing my videos.

Suspend works, waking in about 8 seconds.

Strawberry playing .mp3 and .wav files, seems like clementine -but different fruit.

So far all good. Stockfish 15 has been blasting with 8 threads within scid,
MX 23.5 on Asus PRIME X470-PRO
AMD Ryzen 3600X (12 threads @ 3.8 GHz)
32 Gig DDR4 3600 (Crucial CL 16)
Nvidia GeForce GT 710
Samsung 970 NVMe nvme0n1 P1-3=MX-23.5, P4=testing
Samsung 980 NVMe =1TB Data, plus 2TB WD =backups
on-board ethernet & sound

This will save users the trouble of manually installing the Wayland session on Plasma. You don't have to set Plasma to default to Wayland, but it would be cool if you decide to do that. It will significantly help gamers who use gamepads on MX KDE according to the comment I posted on Page 12.

we haven't discussed it.

but based on my experience with the KDE wayland session I'm more inclined to do the joystick override thing in xorg.conf.d

its strange that the file breaks the wayland session, but it surely does.

@Joseph DeGarmo does making the joystick.conf modifications in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-joystick.conf solve the joystick problem without having the file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d? because the wayland session doesn't crash unless the file is present under /etc... rather than just modifying the basic config under /usr/share/X11

I'll look into this. Thank you.

As for Wayland, could you pre-install it for people who need it for better HiDPI scaling support?

OK, sorry about that. I'm using Wayland on Plasma on my main Fedora computer and the difference compared to Wayland on Plasma 5.20 is night and day. Wayland is now 95% usable on Plasma 5.27.

What stands out to me is the mention of Alpha2 when we're now in the Beta testing phase. @siamhie Are you using the Beta1 release for your testing and development now? If not, we might be creating bugs rather than fixing them.

@m_pav I'm using beta1 on bare metal. I also have alpha2 on another thumb drive and booted to it to see the differences. Sorry for any confusion.

no worries. I've tried the wayland session a little but not much. my main issue, and it doesn't matter much for a default kde iso, is that it doesn't seem to launch from anything other than sddm.

if the joystick configuration work under /usr/share/X11 that gets a step closer
