@dolphin_oracle How would I check that? I did flash the ISO with MX Live USB Maker.

Code: Select all

apt-policy dbus-user-session

@dolphin_oracle I booted the live ISO and get this message. (same thing from my desktop afterwards)

Code: Select all

demo@mx1:~
$ apt-policy dbus-user-session
bash: apt-policy: command not found
demo@mx1:~
$ sudo apt-policy dbus-user-session
[sudo] password for demo:
sudo: apt-policy: command not found
demo@mx1:~
$
sorry typo.

Code: Select all

apt cache policy dbus-user-session
http://www.youtube.com/runwiththedolphin
lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 - MX-23
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

sorry typo.

Code: Select all

@dolphin_oracle Shows not installed on the live ISO.

Code: Select all

demo@mx1:~

Same thing once booted up to desktop (which makes sense if it's not on the ISO).

@dolphin_oracle Got it working thanks to your suggestion to check the dbus-user-session. :number1:

Opened MXPI and installed dbus-user-session (not installed by default). Then removed wireplumber from the fluxbox startup script and rebooted. Sound is working again.

Code: Select all

                   ├─pipewire-pulse.service
                   │ └─1698 /usr/bin/pipewire-pulse
                   ├─pipewire.service
                   │ └─1696 /usr/bin/pipewire
                   ├─wireplumber.service
                   │ └─1697 /usr/bin/wireplumber

nice.

I'm updating the pipewire-setup-mx package to pull in dbus-user-session. you won't have to do anything.

Is that something you take care of or should I inform @m_pav about that?
I just chrooted into the build-iso from Beta1 and sure enough it's not installed, however, it is installed in my VM in which I do nothing but install the updates then check the changelogs for each package and poke at a few things to see how/if they changed. Surprisingly, I haven't seen user-dbus-session at any time.

@m_pav @dolphin_oracle I can confirm that dbus-user-session is not installed by default on the fluxbox alpha2 ISO but sounds do work.
The pipewire-start script in /usr/bin is also much different from the one we have currently.

Code: Select all

#/bin/bash

#first init check for pure systemd, no shim
INITCHECK=$(readlink /usr/sbin/init)
echo $INITCHECK
if [ "$INITCHECK" = "/lib/systemd/systemd" ]; then
        exit 0
fi

#second init check for system-shim configuration
INITCHECK=$(/usr/bin/ps -p 1 -o cmd -h)
echo $INITCHECK
if [ "$INITCHECK" = "/lib/systemd/systemd" ]; then
	exit 0
fi
#else start them up
echo "start pipewire"
/usr/bin/pipewire &
/usr/bin/pipewire-pulse &
/usr/bin/wireplumber &

exit 0s
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.

Can you install the Wayland session into the build for the KDE version? This will save users the trouble of manually installing the Wayland session on Plasma. You don't have to set Plasma to default to Wayland, but it would be cool if you decide to do that. It will significantly help gamers who use gamepads on MX KDE according to the comment I posted on Page 12.
