MX-23 beta 1 feedback thread

When testing MX-23 KDE beta in a virtual machine, logging out and starting a new session causes the audio source to drop out. Only rebooting fixes it. Issue occurs on systemd as well and happens on both X11 and Wayland. Is this a VirtualBox issue or does this occur on physical hardware as well? I never have this issue when testing Debian 12 RC KDE and Q4OS 5 testing. And of course, I don't have this issue on my Fedora 37 KDE production machine when Pipewire is used.

I can reproduce. I pushed a fix to pipewire-setup-mx but we will have to work on this some.

Will this be fixed in the Beta 2 release? I'm really looking forward to this.

Thanks for the audio fix. Now another issue. When I use the application launcher and adjust the settings, logging into a new session or rebooting resets all the settings every time, thus resulting in no expanded power options on the bottom or favorites in a grid. I like the application launcher, but it's a bit frustrating to have to use the application dashboard as a workaround.

When using the MATE desktop, logout and shutdown do not work. I have to "force quit" to get to a login screen. They work fine with MX 21.3.

This is on KDE Plasma. The VM is a full install. I check the settings on the application launcher settings panel. By default, it does not even apply Plasma's default application launcher settings used in distros like Kubuntu and Arch Linux. And I tried both X11 and Wayland with the issue not being resolved.

A couple of dock items ...
1. If I put the dock on autohide, the portion showing is too thin (apparently near zero) to catch with the cursor--which defeats the whole purpose. Unsure ATM if that is just this machine.

Nope, same issue on my laptop.
Edited init file to session.screen0.slit.autoHide: true
Dock hides so only border is visible, but no mouse over is possible to get it to show.
Tried removing border from dock- no change.
Tried making border thicker - no change.

I can confirm the power and session buttons do not stay expanded. they are present in the pull out menu, but they don't stay expanded. that is weird. might be an issue with debian's build, which is what we are using. the application launcher widget itself stays changed though.

On the subject of the fluxbox init file, is anybody else seeing this behavior?
- manually edit init file and save (eg. change session.screen0.slit.autoHide: false to true)
- fluxbox menu > leave > refresh
- edit to init file gets overwritten/reverted

Changing the fluxbox-remote commands in the menu-mx file from
fluxbox-remote reloadstyle; fluxbox-remote reconfigure
to the old command
fluxbox-remote restart
leaves the edited init file as is.

I can confirm that Debian 12 release candidate does not exhibit this strange behavior on Plasma's application launcher. Not sure why this is an issue on MX-23.
