I need to use R 4.3 (previous versions do not do what I want). I have no problem doing it in Windows, but on the same machine running mx 21.3 I failed miserably, due to some key issues. Here is what I did:
in the terminal, I typed:
sudo echo "deb https://cloud.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian bullseye-cran43/" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
Then:
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-key 'E19F5F87128899B192B1A2C2AD5F960A256A04AF'
and I got:
Warning: apt-key is deprecated. Manage keyring files in trusted.gpg.d instead (see apt-key(8)).
Executing: /tmp/apt-key-gpghome.byl5JNCrxA/gpg.1.sh --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-key E19F5F87128899B192B1A2C2AD5F960A256A04AF
gpg: keyserver receive failed: Server indicated a failure
In short, I am stuck. Can anyone shed light on this? I tried to fix GPG keys, but that did not help.
Do I have to crawl back to Windows?

Re: Cannot install R 4.3
Well it's in Debian sid (experimental) but won't install on MX-21 without luck and a lot of work.
It comes much closer in MX-23, however, which is about to come out as a beta. It's possible that those two problems I see could be fixed for that platform if you make a package request. No guarantee.

Fehlix: I tried your version, using cran40, but it still gagged on the key. I must be doing something different from what you are doing, sadly.

Hmme, I'm not a mind reader, so in case some thing is not working. Give details.
In this case: you btter list each step in detail, what you have done, including any error message.
Also the information you gave is kind of "confusing",
look here:

Kind of inconsistent information you gave. What key would have an issue, if the repo in question was not enabled?
Re: Cannot install R 4.3
Einstein supposedly said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly while expecting different results. I am, therefore, insane, since I just repeated your suggestion AGAIN, and this time it went through without a hitch, and I now am running R 4.3.0.
Thank you-- it has been a great help.
