antiX Advert Blocker window is funky

#1 Post by Antediluvian »

This is a request for ... @anticapitalista?

On a laptop that I am preparing for my daughter, when I run antiX Advert Blocker it opens a window that extends down beyond the bottom to the screen. I cannot see the Cancel and OK buttons. I don't know why but there is a huge (unnecessary amount) of space between "Do you want to proceed?" and the buttons. Resizing the window doesn't solve the problem because dragging the corners of the window only shrinks the window so far and not enough to make the buttons visible.

In the Appearance app I have the dpi set at 158 because that is the native dpi value for that display and it makes text easy to read on that FHD screen without changing the xrandr scaling, which I am reluctant to do because of concern that the sharpness of the display may be compromised. I solved the Advert Blocker window issue by temporarily reducing the dpi in the Appearance app to 96 dpi (wow, does that make things small), but in my naive opinion that shouldn't be required to view all of an app window. That said, I'm not a programmer so what do I know.

This is an ongoing issue with Adblock that has been going on for years. While the developers are very talented I am surprised that after all this time they haven't figure out how to resize the windows so they fit the screen properly so they are not grossly oversize vertically and to get the radio buttons to work properly. The developers have come up with a work around though. Hit the Alt key on your keyboard and right click on the window at the same time which you can drag the window up so you can gain access to the buttons on the bottom. In the future it is a good idea to post your Quick System Info because it can help with diagnoses of your computer even though in this particular case it wouldn't of made any difference.
I am command line illiterate. I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list.

You must be using an old version.

I am using latest version of MX-21.3 antix adblocker is a piece of trash, no updates for this trash adblocker, if someone want to use ad blocker use Ublock Origin browser extension or use PortMaster software (https://safing.io/)

Did they just fix this?

Seems OK now.

Also, no tabs = Cancel, 1 tab = OK
Personally I wouldn't adjust DPI just for that.

Thanks! I forgot about that trick. In this case even Alt + left click and drag worked.

As far as the funky window goes, I had that problem before yesterday's update and still had the issue after the update.

By the way, I always use uBlock Origin, but I figured antiX Advert Blocker would be an extra layer of ducking ads.

Here is my QSI. Not sure what Screen-1 refers to since my monitor is 14 inch (not 23 inch) and the data for Monitor-1 seems to be correct. I am not hooked up to an external display on this laptop.

I dont know what is wrong with people why they argue so much, Antix Adblocker is not updating its domain list or trackers list. Ublock Origin is 100 times betther than this antix adblocker, i already told admin to update this software or remove it, Antix Adblocker does not work, If some one want to use ad blocker use PortMaster,
