Re: MX-23 alpha2 feedback thread
@fehlix ok I tried a live-usb, same machine, no problem.
I'll continue trying to figure out where the problem is. I'll revert the change to system-keyboard-qt soon.

Also when I add DBUS-thing (just for test) to the launcher, would not make it crashdolphin_oracle wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 5:28 pmI'm not running systemd.fehlix wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 5:24 pmCannot confirm. At least justed tested in LiveSession with not yet upgraded and keptdolphin_oracle wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 5:47 pm when I use system-keyboard-qt to set a system keyboard, X either crashes and restarts or X restarts. Not sure what's going on, is anyone else seething that?
I've got it narrowed down to this line of code that systemd-keyboard-qt uses to reload input device.
Code: Select all
udevadm trigger --subsystem-match=input --action=change
this version system-keyboard-qt 23.04.02
it would change immediately without any crash.
just like "sudo udevadm trigger --subsystem-match=input --action=change"
would do after manual changing /etc/defaul/keyboard layout.
Maybe a systemd thing?
running the manual command crashes my X server complete and lightdm restarts. Now, I have made a ton of changes to this machine and its not exactly clean at the moment, but its everytime.
I'll try a different machine.
or even when running just
pkexec udevadm trigger --subsystem-match=input --action=change
would change immediately the changes made to /etc/default/keyboard,
if system-keyboard have been kept enabled in Xfce-keyboard.

Re: MX-23 alpha2 feedback thread
Yeah, the environment variables didn’t seem to particularly matter for the crash. I’m building up a new system right now and trying to lay in the same packages I had before and see if I can replicate it.
It is very possible I’ve done something manually to my system and that’s why it’s crashing

Re: MX-23 alpha2 feedback thread
All MX-19 to MX-21 start well with ventoy but MX23-alpha2 not as this is not able to extract a file from an ISO. Make a dedicated USB of MX23-alpha2 with etcher. Or a DVD. That works fine because the linuxfs is on the media uncompressed.fehlix wrote: Sun Apr 09, 2023 3:57 pmApparently a ventoy issue see post #7abd_bela wrote: Sun Apr 09, 2023 3:17 pm Hi,
I copied the MX23-alpha2 in usb (as usual I used ventoy),
The boot started correctly, then I got the message "Couldn't find antix/linuxfs", but the file exists!!!

I don't know, if it is already posted and I'm very sorry, that i can't read every post...the time...and it is not meant to sound rude, I just want to give the hint
There is one thing, that annoys me really: the new start-up-logo!
It's very nice, but it takes tooooo long to start until it's ready. Ok, i know, i can change it in MX Boot Options. But before you launch MX 23, please make it smaller or everything else. New people who comes to MX will drop down MX because of this.
Thanks for your great job!

Re: MX-23 alpha2 feedback thread
The boot is not slowed down by the logo, you might have other issue there.
Re: MX-23 alpha2 feedback thread
I don't know if alpha2 has a boot animation,
but I've seen a phenomenon where the animation and boot is
very slow on machines with a width of over 1920px.
example: 2560 x 1600-13inch MacBook Pro 2014 etc.
I think @CharlesV can solve it.

Re: MX-23 alpha2 feedback thread
That's weird...with the same machine and MX 21 i don't have this delay.Adrian wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 11:36 am The boot is not slowed down by the logo, you might have other issue there.
