On that installed (HP) that had no effect, so simply deleted the Power Manager icon altogether and modified the conky to show battery level (thinking we might make that a new variant for MX-23). PA icon looked right with a scale of 0.8, Here's the finished product:

@dolphin_oracle Any interest in adding to Tweak > Display (or somewhere else...) an entry such as
PulseAudio icon scale
with a default value of 0.6 that runs a sed on that css code piece preinstalled? Tooltip: "Adjust the size to fit Panel preferences"

Both xfce and KDE boot from usb type c and detect my internal NMVE disk. This problem came from previous versions.
Thanks

2. In the same file the DIR_MODE=0755 should be 0750 ( I notice in the MX23 it is 700)
but why that 700 ? I think group should be enabled

Code: Select all

# The permissions mode for home directories of non-system users.
# Default: DIR_MODE=0700
#DIR_MODE=0700

Code: Select all

# The permissions mode for home directories of system users.
# Default: SYS_DIR_MODE=0755
#SYS_DIR_MODE=0755
non-system users could be things like samba for example.
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

currently the icon size in the system tray is set to automatically adjust with panel size. this has not been the case in the past, where we had them hard locked to a certain size. (22, always a smidge smaller than the panel icons). the icon size can still be set in the system tray settings, if you want to play with those.

also, the power manager systray icon appears to work again, so we could take that particular plugin off the panel
Yes, the power-manager systray icon works again - but it is still throwing an oversized battery when the panel size is over ~26px thick.
This odd/annoying behaviour started with power-manager in xfce4 v/4.16 and sofar unresolved by the xfce2 dev team.

However, over at Bunsenlabs, @Johnraff developed a patched version for their Beryllium release (Debian11 based), initially for 4.16 --> and lately also for xfce 4.18.0 power-manager.
Check out this forum post re BL-boron/bookworm patches / and relevant repository with the patched packages.

Today I succesfully installed the v/4.18.0 patched power-manager/power-manager-data/power-manager-plugins versions in MX23-alpha2 over the existing 4.18..
Both its panel-plugin and systray-icon showed up in the correct size and color (just as it did in xfce v/4.14) --> see below image
Of course, MX-updater immediately offered to 'upgrade' these files to 4.18.1... For the time being, I have put the patched versions on 'hold', to make sure all continues to work okay.
Perhaps MX-23 dev team can check out Johnraff's patches, whether similar versions can be tailermade for MX ?

@ceeslans Thanks, nice find. Not sure how this will all shake out so that contribution is very helpful.

Jerry3904 wrote: Wed Apr 12, 2023 5:18 am Good find. Sure don't remember doing that, but ToZ is always coming up with great css solutions

BTW1: the gtk.css file on my Acer Aspire One 722 testing (Live) machine is not empty but contains a line to import the whisker-tweak file in the same folder

...
I could have sworn my Home gtk.css file was empty in the alpha2 when I added the hack.

It's the mx-comfort theme's css file that has the whisker menu addition.
tweak adds a line about whisker-tweak.css when the theme-set tool is used. I'm actually thinking about removing the feature of saving custom whisker gtk code because AFAIK absolutely no one uses it.

could testers please remove the following packages, reboot, and see if your keyboards, mice, touchpads, etcc... still operate?

xserver-xorg-input-evdev
xserver-xorg-input-kbd
xserver-xorg-input-mouse
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

that should leave xserver-xorg-input-libinput installed and taking over from the legacy drivers.

would this apply to KDE applications as well?
