yep, that's weird. the dpkg-divert only does one ".dpkg-dist" not two. must be something else going on.fehlix wrote: Fri Apr 07, 2023 4:13 pm The new added package diversion of the grub config files to avoid

Re: MX-23 alpha2 feedback thread
Administrative tasks (MX Tweak - Other) Using root, the password issue. When I tick to use the root pass, click apply, this change gets ignored.
I was running live, first in VB, and later on the actual hardware, both behave the same. I always have to enter demo. Behavior is the same after reboot when installed in the VB.
Haven't installed yet, have to gather some courage first (you guys know I am a wuss lol), but I wager this is gonna be the same when installed.
Point 7 had to be done twice. I had also changed the panel to the bottom when I first hit apply, panel was applied, dock->window didn't take. Repeated on dock->window, apply, and now the change went through. Nice feature btw, thanks for that!

On the root question: you may have to reboot for that to take effect?
Last dock-->window may require a log out/in
Will test both these tomorrow...

Re: MX-23 alpha2 feedback thread
root change should be instant, but it will ask for the current admin password to make the change, which would be the user password initially. after that should be root.
but in any case @Eadwine Rose is correct, the switch isn't working. will explore. the override file is removed, but something in the base system has changed. good report!
*** looks like the way to configure polkit may have changed a little. will add this to the list, but it is fixable

Tried to view User Manual from the desktop and the response was: "Untrusted application launcher" Exec=mx-manual.
A short time later an overlying popup appeared: 'Launch error. Failed to run "Help.desktop" timeout was reached'
Same error result with the Desktop FAQ icon.

Odd. They both open for me.
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

I can confirm that FAQ and Manual open on my computer.
Theming issue:
In Wifi password box (with "Show password" selected), the initial characters are invisible. Selecting this invisible text reveals it: After a certain number of characters are entered, the text becomes visible (white).

Re: MX-23 alpha2 feedback thread
I had the same thing in 21.3 with the pulseaudio icon. I replaced it with volumeicon. I have 0.5.1 running.
I have no idea anymore how I got that.. sorry. I think I just used that command in startup and it worked.
The link to the website is no longer working. https://softwarebakery.com/maato/volumeicon.html
edit: Took a looksee in Synaptic. Looks like it is the volumeicon-alsa package.
That icon keeps with the rest of the icons, size wise, and I can go into pulseaudio and all that with it, like normal.I have no idea anymore how I got that.. sorry. I think I just used that command in startup and it worked.
