+1 For Cinelerra, especially Cinelerra-GG, It is truly heads above most other Linux NLE's, I can't believe how it doesn't get recognized, I use it regularly for production and not even Kdenlive can do what it does with large multitrack Audio and Video projects. The original Cinelerra from Heroine Virtual was difficult, the CV version lacked features and forward momentum for many years, but Cinelerra-GG is a complete game changer!nandi wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 12:16 pm I use it as a multimedia machine.

Avidemux

+1 also for Avidemux, VERY useful!
*side note this stuff all comes pre-installed and ready to use on my MX Multimedia Creation Respin AV Linux MX Edition..
Re: Which software/apps do you use most on MX?
Little has changed for me, apart from the fact that:
Pitivi finally made the running as a video editing programme.
It can't do as much as others, but it's everything I need and, unlike the new openshot 3, it's stable and fast. Shotcut is somewhere in between ...
shutter encoder has also finally replaced handbrake.
For a bit of sound editing, the old 2.6 Audacity is still enough for me.
I've been using Rawtherapee since 2006, nothing will change there.
There is still no Linux alternative to JPG-Illuminator.
Filemanagment: pcmanfm, but Thunar is still installed.
internet: Firefox, Seamonky Suite, Transmission
Listen to music: MOC (music on console), but deadbeef is still installed
Notes/Text collections: Cherrytree and FeatherNotes (at some point I will have to decide)

@wdscharff
Would you mind expanding on Pitivi (and/or vs. Shotcut) just a little bit more?

May I ask from where you installed Cinelerra?

Pitivi huh..? Is it still based on Gstreamer?wdscharff wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 1:24 pm Pitivi finally made the running as a video editing programme.

I've installed and removed Openshot 3, Shotcut and Davinci Resolve this month, much promised but little delivered, Resolve wouldn't even work with an AMD RX6750XT Video card! Shotcut has the most future promise I think, most of it's tutorials are on Windows curiously
Re: Which software/apps do you use most on MX?
It's not in the MX Repos, it is distributed from it's site as an AppImage (to be clear Cinelerra-GG), always works terrific here!
Re: Which software/apps do you use most on MX?
It's a matter of taste, pitivi is, for me, easier to use than shotcut.MXRobo wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 1:45 pm @wdscharff

Openshot (v3) is then a programme where you will love the auto safe function ... and the jerks and hang-ups when you want to go through a 20-minute video (from 10 stitched together).
I also always have the system load, thread scaling and speed on my screen. (the fact that my conky is so excessive is related to this).
pitivi was faster with a lower system load, but we're talking about times that are measurable, but not really relevant. (2-3%). maybe it has to do with the fact that it is based on gstreamer and not on ffmpeg ... or is simply better programmed.
I'm referring to the current Flatpak version from our MXPI, which now has a few new features that I missed earlier.
I'm supposed to make a puppy video this weekend, so maybe I'll take some notes along the way.
otherwise my advice is always: try it out for yourself, what suits me doesn't have to suit you.

Re: Which software/apps do you use most on MX?
yes, but why should that be important to me?
Shotcut times might really be the safest choice in the long run, but I still have this little irrational component that something has to be easy for me to use :-)
I installed the nvidia drivers especially for da vinci ... and then it won't install properly. A programm for which I first have to search for and install additional dependencies, tinker around for over an hour so that the start-up screen is visible for a second ... that may be great, but I won't do that to myself again, there are too many alternatives that are sufficient for me!
