MX Boot Animation at testing
Re: MX Boot Animation at testing
hmm... not sure I have anything with an HDMI output that is running mx21 .. My fast machines are either mx19, vm's or one mx21 laptop (no hdmi) . But I will find something to test on.
I did see some degradation on one of my machines when loading. I removed the graphic and saw the machine was hesitating on the load. It happened four times, but then I couldnt get it to do that again and once I loaded up the logo it seemed fine. We may be seeing those issues on os load, I am not sure how plymouth handles the loading sequences as far as hardware slow downs, but everything is in a callback, so pretty sure it is influenced by the machine load.

Re: MX Boot Animation at testing
Probably,
"too high machine power"
or
"too high screen resolution".
I suspect one or both of these are the cause.

I have a dell laptop sent to me to fix, might be just the ticket to test with hdmi .. will work that up and see if I can trip it up

Thank you. Great work. Subtle is always best in either of the images.CharlesV wrote: Mon Feb 06, 2023 7:11 pmThanks and certainly. These MAY NOT be the finals.. at this time I believe they are, but my eye keeps catching things ...herbie wrote: Mon Feb 06, 2023 6:53 pm Love that login background. Nice blend of graphics. I use the Slick-Greeter but that image would work really well.
BTW, can you post that background?

Thanks! In my testing, I have found an issue with size of that graphic on 1920 screens, so I will be updating to add that size.herbie wrote: Mon Feb 06, 2023 9:40 pmThank you. Great work. Re: MX Boot Animation at testing
OK , here is the 'final' batch.
https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code ... TsqufbpHVV
This link has:
- grub boot theme
- plymouth MXLive theme (please let me know if this should be a different name!)
- DarkAngle backgrounds to match the grub boot, but three different sizes.
I have tested under 9 machines now, including 2 fast laptops with HDMI second monitors and 1 slow laptop with HDMI monitor and the only thing I could see 'off' .. is on the slow machine the animated boot graphic stays on screen, after animation, perhaps a little long. I dont see any method of changing that, unless the animation starts over again.
Do I need to walk all this into / through the regular submission channel? or is this good ?
Thanks for all the feed back! and huge thanks to Freja on the marvelous logo!!

As we know, in the flow of the logo thread, well-balanced Eclipse V2 has been challenged and has had a sizeable improvement.
"Traditional Heavy Eclipse" is latest one.

So I rebuilded the boot/shutdown animation with the new logo and keep concept and send it to you.
I'm very sorry to increase your work. . .

Re: MX Boot Animation at testing
@freja no worries, doing both programming and graphics are passions so I spend LOTS of time on both :-) ( Besides, I do SO much IT support work, both programming and graphics are a blessing :-) )Freja wrote: Fri Feb 10, 2023 6:06 am @CharlesV

Re: MX Boot Animation at testing
Sound included MXboot and MXshutdown
(Please unmute)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92jltlieG9I
Liscence: From the beginning, I had this boot animation in mind with sound.
However, "boot animation with sound" is very challenging, so it has been sealed until now.
(Its unprecedented)
It is impossible if plymouth can not use sound,
Limited release just in case.
It will probably be no sound,
but I'll submit two .wavs if it's well received.
